Whoa dude (or dudette?). Chill. First, take off the caps lock. Unless you're 12. Then keep it on I guess. Second, this is a very temporary very short term situation. And even the Mayor has said Ish will "run" things from a "macro" level. Not micro. If you don't know the difference between the two, google that sh--. What difference does it make he's never arrested anyone? How many times did Chief White arrest someone in the last 4 months? 12 months? Really? I could see being concerned if he was a candidate for the permanent position, but do you know how quickly the next 4 months will pass? This is a blip on the radar in the grand scheme of the issues needing to be addressed and resolved within this department. You need to stop freaking out (literally) about this and focus on (what should be) your real priority. Keep your nose clean. Do your job. Take care of yourself and your family (at work and at home). That is all.

Stop screaming at me. You need to relax. Who the interim chief is for the next four months is not important. The important issue is who will be named the next permanent Chief. BTW, 10K a month is less than White was paid, so we are getting a break. Also, don't take what Burks said out of context. He said he was going to "keep the train on the tracks" and see if there were any pending discipline issues that need immediate attention. That is actually the responsible thing to do. No officer should be kept waiting for four months to receive discipline because White is leaving. You should notice he also said that LMPD is an excellent department with excellent officers doing an excellent job and that we just need to do a better job of letting the public know how excellent we are. That is a complement my friend. I don't know the guy and I'm not enthused that he was never a sworn officer, but it's not the end of the world….it's four months.

I agree, we could have chose a person within the dept to serve and save the money. I do understand he did not want to pick someone within the dept due to that person possibly not being chosen as the perminent chief. But, why spend 40K on Burks & 50K for SPI to try and find an outside source. The Mayor has said several times that he would like to promote within, someone who has louisville ties. Why are we paying SPI 50K to find an outside source. Mr. Burks never was a sworn police officer, so this really does disapoint me. I would like to make 10K a month for 4 months, and the rest of you all would also.

I'm really upset over the amount of money this is costing the city. This is not Mayor Fischers money to spend at his leisure. $90,000 in four months is a lot of money. Cut that out and the officer's would not have to pay for their take home car. This guy Ish Burks is not qualified. Never a sworn officer of the law. Fischer cant find a qualified Int. Chief & he is spending 90 thousand to try and find a real chief? something fishy here. I saw his Virtural talk with Greg on facebook & Yvette Gentry was with him on the computer answering questions...... so what does that tell you? And she, just like Ish Burks is on his Merger 2.0 task force.

Is it even legal for him to be hired? Does he meet the recertification standards?

Mayor Fischer, he is turning out to be another Abramson in the political areana. The race was tight, and i'm sure it can be tighter in the next election. Im over this bull crap of police chief..... Mayor Fischer is making it to leaning toward the apoointment of the president of the United States. We are not Los Angeles nor Los Vegas, we are not that big of a city,...... So quit the B.S. You already know who you want, as proven by Ish Burks, you Mr. Mayor appointed him along with Yvette Gentry onto your "MERGER 2.0 Board. Quit wasting tax payers dollars and appoint a durn chief. It is pathetic the Chief of the Fire Dept, or the Commish of the EMS dont get this much publicity. All this revenue wasted on a political appointed position. By the Way Mayor----Ishmon Burks is not qualified to be a police chief.... Sir, he never has arrest powers, and never was an actual police officer on the streets. BAD CHOICE. But we are stuck with him cause you are the Mayor for now sir.
