Col. Aubrey has done more for the police than anyone making comments on this board!!! As far as him as a sheriff, well lets just say for those of us who have been around awhile and remember the Green jackets. Well, enough said!! 1000% better than it was.... Before he came into office the reserves were who ever gave a sheriff enough money or were his buddies. Now they are trainied. I'm just wondering how in the world did we go from talking about the Whitlock clown to bashing a great policeman like John Aubrey.....

Bingo, he is a politician and always has been. Most of the things you all are giving him credit for, getting the deputies through the academy, getting them into uniform, training the reserves, were all done by Vaughn. Remember, he HAS to send the deputies, Vaughn did not, but chose to do so over his term because it was the right thing to do. The legal mandate to go to the Academy kicked in just a few weeks before Aubrey took office, Vaughn simply kept his campaign promise that he would get all the deputies trained, and with the exception of a few who physically couldn't do it, he managed to get all 200 plus of them through the academy in five years. And Aubrey doesn't drive the car because if he did, he couldn't stop off at the Knights every day and drink a few beers. (His right, by the way, but don't impute pure motives to him, he simply doesn't want to be called upon to actually do anything after he leaves the office.)

And I bet none of you even remember the nasty smear campaign he did against Vaughn, he had been a local police officer before he served almost 30 years with the ATF, ending his career as a well-respected and apolitical resident agent. Asked why he didn't have a SWAT team, why his son wasn't working for him (he couldn't under the merit system nepotism rules, and after all, Aubrey's doesn't either. Asked about a female deputy getting pregnant by Vaughn, she would have sued if she could have proved who put out the smear brochure around the courthouse, because Vaughn was NOT the father and had nothing to do with her. (He was involved with the same lady after his divorce until his death.) Yeah, I remember all that and all the deputies around the courthouse then well remember it too.

Wrong, idiot . I guess you clowns and losers over there can't read. If you could you would know that constables are above them and that your sheriff is not certified. I don't give a damn if he was in the French foreign legion. And once again he doesn't have to be just like the constables!
