Although some LMPD guys (well, a lot) work their shifts, then a ton of hours at off-duty gigs, they really have that choice to dial it back a little on occasion.

EMS guys apparently cannot. All the while, Dr. Richmond may or may not even be living or working in town. The Ville Voice website has blogged he has a couple of out-of-town jobs on top of his supposedly full time gig as LMEMS director.

If true, you have to wonder if any of the unusually highly paid (for Louisville) Abramson appointed directors have ever even shown up to unpack their bags. The marginally qualified assistant directors are then left to run around virtually unsupervised themselves. That's how we end up with the current LMEMS issues, LMAS, Corrections, Housing (at least that is home-grown incompetence and corruption) - not to mention the potential in the chief's office with the overall and striking lack of maturity in the top command (excluding VJR).

It's the Louisville (and Abramson) way.

I expect you'd feel differently if you were forced to work 16 hours and then had to be back in roll call 8 hours later, regularly. And remember, LMEMS does NOT permit their employees to sleep while on duty, at any time, no matter how many hours they've worked.

You are an idiot, and totally missing the point of this story. Not everyone has 5 minutes on like you and needs to kill themselves and ruin their family lives with OT.
