Of course it was a slam, because you assume that you know what Corrections deals with every day, and apparently you don't. Yes, they don't have a gun, so they don't have to worry about losing it, but they are dealing with folks who often DO have weapons, shivs, etc. So in effect, they are always in the position of fighting with a subject who does have a weapon, without having a firearm themselves. And they know that everyone they deal with is a scumbag, EVERYONE!
