Though I think 90% of police in Louisville earn every penny of their pay, I think many that post here make the rest look bad by seeming so ungrateful to be employed (with health insurance, paid vacation, etc.) in this economy. Not all people that have lost their jobs in this economy are losers (as I've seen implied here). I have a college degree and 15 years of professional experience but I've been laid off 3 times in as many years. When I was laid off from a 40k a year salary, I collected $204 a week on unemployment. Could you live on $800 a month? I went on 63 interviews last year before being hired. Still, I'm grateful to be working now. I don't believe police should make any less than they do (in fact, almost definitely deserve more), but I do think everyone that is employed with benefits should be grateful. I don't see a lot of that here and though I know it's the minority, it taints the general population and their views of LMPD personnel, which is really unfortunate.
