I commend the command staff for getting rid of an individual who would, throughout her entire career, give the rest of us who take pride in a careers, a black eye. I've always believed we should hold ourselves to a higher standard. Despite the political environment or the changes in society, we can all still be proud of who we are and what we do for a living. 12 year officer.

People who are desperate to attack Chief White personally are always trying to point out how bad LMPD is. Like there are so many bad officers doing so many bad things and the administration is letting corruption run amuck. Save all the drama! When was the last time an officer on LMPD was charged with rape, or murder, or selling drugs? Those kinds of things happen on lots of departments across the nation on a regular basis. LMPD has a major problem: officers not coming to court. So someone isn't fired that you think should be fired. Get over it. If you had your way, some of you would fire an officer for any policy violation because that's all you know: FIRE, FIRE, FIRE.

Metro TV's reenactment of what happened at headquarters today, starring John C. McGinley as the Chief.

I wonder if the officer that has less then 3 years on the street and sits on the Cheif's panel during the hiring process approved of this fine recruit and the "Queen".

You, my friend are making assumptions and including things I did not state. 'OUR' court mess is because the mayor and chief allow the Communist Journal to dictate our S.O.P.'s and policing - instead of growing a spine. By the way, the story on tons of felony cases being dismissed because officers did not show up was as accurate as a blind man shooting blanks with a bent barrel. All statistics can be skewed and swayed towards the desired outcome. I DO NOT advocate not attending court. I go every dang time. The point was this - Doesn't matter if you attend or not - The defendants charges are always ammended down, or dismissed. The court really doesn't care what your opinion is anyway.

The 'COURT MESS' I was referring to was District Court as a whole. I meant what I said. This county lets people get away with anything, over and over. Of course they will keep stealing or selling dope when all they get is diversion, ammendments, dismissals, or another 500 yrs "on their head". Who wouldn't continue to do the same thing over and over if it benefits them and there are no consequences. When you start holding people accountable and make them do some time, they will quit or be displaced. Period. The problem is not all with the prosecutors either - their hands are tied to clear the jail and the dockets ASAP. The main problem is the extreme liberal climate enveloping this city. Until the citizens DEMAND that the courts get tough on these repeat offenders, nothing will change. How do citizens DEMAND this? By voting these liberal judges out, thats how. By personally suing individual judges when they release felons back on society and have them cause further physical and financial injury on our citizens - and YOU. Don't you think you can be sued for 'not-acting' and not doing your job when it results in any type of injury? What makes a judge that releases a criminal predisposed to re-offend any better? Until we as stand up and say Enough is Enough, nothing will change.

I say our problems start at the top and not the bottom for these reasons: One should lead from the front. One should never ask those that she or he commands to do anything that she or he has not done themselves. One should lead by example. NEVER: do as I say, not as I do. Officers (and employees for that matter) will emulate their leadership's example. How do you feel about your, or possibly lack of, leadership????

Nuff said, I rest my mess.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKS !

Speaking of Ofc. Pegram. Or more like, made me think. Do we keep up with officers off for sick, death in the family, injuries, or any other reason.

I know of one, and when asked he never hears from us. I found that disappointing, (maybe I expected to much).

Is there any support in place for these officers. For them to know we are here if they need us?

I agree. Turn this site into a recognition site for good jobs we do.

I will start with big Congrats to the Detective(without mentioning his name) from the 6th that did do the right thing and make the arrest on the off duty Officer. Great job in keeping our integrity and honor for this profession above all else and doing the right thing.

If anything, the newspaper and department have been a little too generous in its description of what happened. The citation was posted by one of the news outlets to the internet but it has some personal info so I won't link it. They say Kathryn Fanning was being kicked out for throwing a drink on someone. She used racial slurs against a member of the bar staff and then kicked him in the leg. She was so drunk she couldn't even stand up without holding the wall. She refused to leave. Instead she threatened to get her Valhalla friend to have the Detective fired and called him a mother-f**ker. Then she kick the Detective in the groin 3 times with high heel boots. Lauren Fanning hits him in the back of the head and the side of his face as he's arresting her sister, and kicked a witness several times who tried to help the Detective.

They are both lucky they were treated with kid gloves and that such restraint was used in handling them. It's an individual's call, but the citation tells me they got more breaks from the Detective than they should have. The sister should have been tased and hooked up after that first kick. Kicking someone as they're yelling a racial epithet is a hate crime.
