Actually, someone needs to bring it up to the Metro Council, they can force it. But no one will because the training staff has zero incentive to have laterals come in.

Not everyone who has 5-10 yrs on has the capability of going through 32 weeks. I had back surgery a couple years ago and there is no way I could make it through the academy today. My point is I'm still a good cop I keep myself in shape by doing other things other than running. Their are many guys and gals out there in similar situations that are great cops who are just getting older and their bodies cant handle the abuse that you get at the academy. Now I know someone on here is going to say well look at guys like Tony Hammond in the 7th he retired from JTOWN and did it. My answer to that is not everyone is as lucky as Tony. It doesnt make them incapable of doing the job though.
