You know guys it boils down to this. The only thing that merger did was destroy two great dept.'s.
I have over 20 years on and plan on retiring by the end of the year, I came from the county side but transfered in from the City of Prospect. When I transfered in it was the thing to do, but now if you talk to any officers on the "Professional" small city dept's they laugh at us and would not take a million dollars to work for the LMPD. Now, I'm not talking about the small dept's that hire officer's for who they know, I'm talking about the angency's that require a hiring process that in most case's is harder than ours. Like Anchorage, Prospect, Indian Hills, St. Matthews, J-Town and Shively. Most of these dept's have better equipment, wages and working enviroment. I mean come on, when is the last time you seen a Anchorage car working a off-duty traffic detail. It's not because they can't, it's because they don't have to.
Maybe the LMPD should sit back and see just how some of these dept's operate.
