Exactly. I have had my own doors sucked off by officers who I knew were responding to nothing more pressing than going home. Sure, I want to get home too - but why take such silly chances? The excuse of - he must have been on an emergency call - simply doesn't fly when it can't be proved - if you are responding to an emergency, as an emergency vehicle, use the frigging emergency equipment. If you don't, you have zero protection when you get into a wreck, none, zilch, zero. Why give them a chance to nail you? Cops are their own worse enemies, LMPD is short-handed, why be in such a hurry to make up for the fact LMPD is shorthanded by not making people wait. MAKE THEM WAIT if it isn't an emergency call.
