LMPD officer dies after being struck on bicycle

My deepest condolonces to Paul's family. I did not know him well but he is a brother of mine all the same.

Sometimes I feel we're safer at work than anywhere else. RIP Brother

Seems like the older I get the more it bothers me when I hear about a life ending suddenly, even if I never met the person such as this officer. I have seen him around the department here and there (court, etc.). This could have be any of us at anytime. When tragedies like this happen it causes me to turn to my faith and appreciate all that's important in life. If you are part of LMPD, let this be a turning point and let's try (even if a little) to be more nicer to each other and less judgmental. God bless this man, our Department, our Chief, our constituents, our jobs, our health, our children. Please look over us.....

Just read in the online edition of the CJ that an officer from Indiana was killed to day in a similar crash. He was training on his bike with two other officers and was struck and killed by a hit and run driver. Our extended family has lost two brothers today in senseless tragedies. May GOD look after their families and console them. Prayers go out to each of the departments and officers who lost their partner and friend.

Unfortunately I did not get a chance to meet this fallen friend, other than in passing at a scene, or in court. I have heard nothing but good things about him from those that know him.

I worked in the same division as Paul. A few years back we were in fall qualifications together. I wasnt feeling up to par and generally having a bad day. Some how he knew this, it was his enthusiasm and energy that helped me win the day. Not working the same shift I always liked seeing him at shift change and we spoke often. A bright light went out yesterday, good police, good people. God bless him and his family. Thank you for letting me share.

Paul a good police officer, great friend, wonderful family man! He will be greatly missed by all! May God bless his family and comfort them! To all LMPD brother & sister may God comfort you in this awful time! RIP Paul! Truly a great soul that will be missed!

I woke up today and the world was a little less brighter. After a day of getting calls, calling people and telling them what had happened, going to work sharing with people who also suffed in this loss. Paul Pegram was a brightness and a happiness force. He cared about everyone. He was a stalwart friend and a good coworker. The real loss of Paul has yet to be felt. That is because of all the people who will not get to meet him. You will not hear a bad thing about him because there is nothing bad to be said. Heaven is brighter today while our world has dimmed. May god bless his family in their hour of need and may all those who will not have a chance to know him understand the loss.

I didn't personally know Paul, but upon hearing the news, it felt as though it involved my own family member.
