The following email was sent to RCFOP in response to our article...

Dear River City Fraternal Order of Police,

Obviously nothing can undo the terrible consequences of past events. Kathy takes responsibility for her participation and she, and those of us who support her parole, never forget the pain of the families.

Nevertheless, Kathy was not sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.

The judge, district attorney, and chiefs of police all agreed that her sentence should include the possibility of parole after twenty years. In fact , the judge made it quite clear that he expected her to be released at that time, assuming her behavior in prison warranted it. The parole board found that she was a truly remorseful and reformed person, who had been fully rehabilitated.
