Mayoral candidates receive public safety endorsements

That would be against the bill of rights, regarding freedom of speech, since this is not an official government website, it would also make it seem as if we have something to hide from the general public. Now if the union formed a website similiar to this, they could make it a members only comment section. But then, like I said earlier, it would make it seem as if we had some other ulterior motive or are trying to hide. I for one do not really care what the "peanut gallery" has to say, it is immaterial to how I work and live. Why let them bother you, it is never worth the brainpower exerted to answer them or concern yourself with.
