I have long wondered if the silly way of assigning radio code numbers now is intended to really cover up how thin the divisions are spread? It is bizarre to have an officer with a radio call number that indicates, for example, that they are on beat 3 when in fact they are covering beat 5, and have been doing that for weeks. How do they possibily even do beat accountability anymore?
