MetroSafe system gets $2.2 million for upgrades

None of what you said contradicts the fact that Louisville has a dangerously low number of officers on duty in the divisions during these events. The reason people didn't get much overtime 15 years ago is because there were enough officers back then. The city broke the bank on all of the Mayor's no-revenue pet projects and now can't afford a fully manned police department. Has anyone ever offered a rough estimate of how much the city earns from any of these events? There's a lot of optimistic speculation about that, but no hard numbers to prove it. Hopefully the winner of the election will have enough sense to fire everyone that helped Jerry screw up this county since the merger.

The ones that want to work "extra" are already maxed out on off-duty work - so they aren't available to work OT. Back 20 years ago, they limited the amount of off-duty they could work.
