LMPD works at minimums all the time, this isn't any different, sadly. I'd love to see you all post, every day for every shift, the exact number of beat officers work. Don't care about anything else, just how many beat officers are working. Most people have ZERO clue.

They have a plan - may not be a good plan - but this IS the plan!

The Overtime thing is funny as I am the only one from my division that signed up for OT this weekend at the Boo La Boo. Heard it was the same across the board, overtime offered and officers don't want to work OT. Have been on 20 years now and never seen anything like it. I remember in the mid 90's people were having to hope to get the OT as they had to sign up for it on a list. Now, these younger guys act like they don't want it. The past year we have had traffic OT and I get it everytime as soon as the Sergeant puts it on the board. No one signs up, no one volunteered for the Churchill detail this weekend and it is all OT for at least 10 hours each day. No not everyone is off, but you would think the ones that were and really wanted to make some good money that goes on their pension they would sign up. Nope, did not happen, then the LT. checked for people to split it or work what they could before their normal shift. Again, no one wanted it. Don't know which department you are talking about in your post, but I guarantee you based on recent history of the past 5 years, Officers would not fill the details like Breeders, Derby, Hullabaloo, Ironman or anything else if it all was on OT everytime. So don't try to act like it would happen because you know it would'nt. One other thing and this is just an educated assumption, is not our job public safety and protection? Big events require us to provide public safety and protection. The civilian that posted on here about how much money these events bring to the city is probably correct. Just thinking that a big event cost an astronomical amount to put on and it brings in millions to our economy so would have to half way think in essence they are paying our salaries for the event that way too.
