Atlanta to Louisville: No thanks. You can keep your police chief.

July 12th, 2010 @ 11:20AM (14 years ago)

This goes back to what has quietly been said by many. We, the rank and file of this department, are our own worst enemies. Instead of bashing this fellow in the public eye, we should have stayed stoically silet. This way Atlanta, Chicago or Dallas could have had his services. Instead we are probably stuck with him for longer than I personally like.

I don't blame him for applying to other agencies, in fact I whole heartily support his wanting to find another agency.

Now, we need to get Fischer and Heiner before an open meeting of the FOP and get some answers from both. And we need to get them locked in to their statements.

Personally I like both candidates for different reasons, however so far Heiner has been the only one to be present at gatherings I go to and he willingly answered questions, some of which I disagreed with but respected.

Thanks Tom for telling it like it is. Maybe Fischer will pay attention. BTW in case you didn't know FISCHER IS A LIAR! He claims to have invented the ice dispenser. Truth is his Daddy bought the company and set him and his brother up. He is a spoiled rich kid that has everything given to him and now like his buddy Yarmuth wants to play politics.

During his failed 2008 U.S. Senate bid, Fischer repeatedly referred to himself as a co-inventor of an ice dispenser. And just a few weeks ago he appeared at a downtown mayoral forum in which he declared he was the inventor of a combination ice-beverage dispensing machine:

But reality is much different. A commenter in early February summed things up nicely:

Servend, originally called Servend Distributors, began as an Indiana company and remained one, one that was founded by a Sellersburg man named Jerry Landers while Greg Fischer was still in high school.

What's troubling isn't the "move" but rather that the Fischers so often allow themselves credit for starting Servend when in actuality they bought it. They tacked "International" on the end after the purchase so I suppose when they refer to founding Servend International they mean the legal entity on paper and not the company on the ground, but it hardly seems accurate to base one's early acumen on such a technicality. Servend Distributors held patents on ice machines before the Fischers were ever involved.

Since Fischer is an open book… maybe he'd care to admit he isn't the inventor, but the guy who bought it? According to court documents, SerVend Distributors, Inc. (Jerry Landers) invented the ice machine. Then George Fischer (Greg's dad) purchased the company. Greg's name does appear as a co-inventor – not inventor – on U.S. Patent No. 4,641,763, a dispensing apparatus. And it appears his name was appended to the original patent. But for the 13 other patents SerVend holds for the ice dispenser? Fischer's name doesn't appear as an inventor. Jerry Landers' does.

Or is that too much honesty and transparency for a mayoral candidate?

exercise your rights to campaign. we can, troopers can't. exercise all your rights whenever you can - this country is founded on individual rights. BS that we don't have an impact. crawl out of the drain that ate your brain. the vast majority of officers in our area are well respected, decent, and listened to. don't tell folks what to do. explain to them why YOU are voting for Heiner - AND BACK IT UP! I do know one thing: you can't make a difference unless you try.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKS !

What Was That About Louisville's Crime Rate?

July 14th, 2010 by jake · 4 Comments

Really, what was that about Louisville's crime rate?

Take a look at this absolute gem from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

"I just wanted to see straight math," Reed said. "And the numbers were very compelling."

Farooqui analyzed crime patterns for Louisville and Atlanta and found that during White's tenure in Louisville the crime rate increased, while Atlanta's crime rate decreased under Turner.

Yeah.
