Another post by someone that appears to want to blame someone like a boss for their failure to prepare. What happend to training yourself? That is why they call it basic training, you get the basics and maybe some follow up remedial training during your career. And at least the department offers that, ask people in other jobs what kind of training they get? Most of them none. And don't give me the crybaby, but we are different excuse either. In this profession you have to prepare yourself some as well and quit waiting for everyone to do it for you. Damn!

Where did i say i didn't train myself. I did admit to making mistakes and you can't say you don't. Have you never had a foot chase where you didn't catch the guy but someone else did or missed the bag of weed the guy threw out of the window making a turn at 60mph before pulling over. After all if you trained at home for that, running through your neighbor's yards hopping their fences and looking into their dog house to see if you "training perp" was hiding there, or chased your wife in her car as she through stuff out of the window, you would have some explaining to do. As far as self training there is a difference between doing it yourself versus having an independent eye watching and pointing out what is right and what is wrong. Anyone who thinks it through would see that repetition builds muscle memory, reaction times that decrease, reduces the effects of stress and builds confidence while objectively pointing out limitations to improve. Based on your model the military could send you to basic, advanced training then call it a day and save us a boat load of money. That's why the military trains so much, and I have been in 2 different branches. But we all can't have FATS in our basement, or such understanding neighbors. So the rest of us have to make do with train on something for 5 days, then maybe use it once a year. Somethings you just can't replicate completely let alone replicate by yourself. That was my original intent. But thanks for reminding me heroes do exist. Have a good day Superman, and don't forget to save us "little people" from ourselves. I will sleep good tonight.
