Former Metro Corrections employees sue again |
RE: Former Metro Corrections employees sue again
Yep, it's a lack of BA operators assigned to the shift that night - also, on 2nd shift (1500-2300), the BA operator has to do releases. So, if people aren't getting out of jail in a timely manner, he gets in trouble. If BA's get held too long, he gets in trouble. 2nd shift currently only has one BA operator - the primary guy is out on medical leave. They do post for OT, but when we have two BA operators, they assign one to another position, like working the grill or doing transporation, etc.
1st shift moves their BA guy around, and late watch is just plain shorthanded. But, we're not planning on another academy until next month, and only one then. I've not heard anything about sending more people to BA school, either - it costs money to have those folks gone from the jail a whole week, plus paying out OT for their positions.
The jail has "done more with less" for so long, that the "less" is now "only what you need". When I started, the booking floor was staffed with almost double the amount of people we have now. Minimum is now seven down there - just seven, to do everything necessary to operate the floor. Simply ridiculous. And, we're not staffing it up any time soon. Please, start complaining to the people that matter. Simply posting stuff on here won't correct the problems - and Lord knows our complaining won't do a damn thing but get targets put on our heads. If it comes from you guys, they "might" pay attention.
