RE: Former Metro Corrections employees sue again
You would think after 50 years and 7 as a new Government the problem would be solved!
RE: Former Metro Corrections employees sue again
My ***, you hear it a lot. I can't remember the last time I saw that many people in the cage. The process could be streamlined, but you can thank Bolton for the added time we have to spend taking their fricking property on the grill, instead of somewhere else in the booking process. It's a valid security issue, but not one that necessarily needs to be done on the grill, by the grill officers.
Of course, I'm sure folks like you know exactly how we should do our jobs, though. That'd be why we have to serve warrant after warrant for the lazy turds who can't be bothered to run someone thru e-warrants prior to handing them over to us. Granted, we can serve them just as well as you, but you should really be the ones doing it.
Oh, and it's not ten+ minutes - more like 6-7. We're hiring, if you wanna come over and fix all of our problems for us, too. Maybe we just the need almighty police to set things straight for us. If you'd like to start a pissing contest about who has the better department, you might wanna think twice about it. I've got a few stories to tell about both LMPD and the former city/county departments.
It's fairly obvious you've got issues with my agency. That's fine, because I do, too. If you think the booking process is taking too long, man up and complain to OUR boss about it. A buddy of mine with a different agency already did that very thing. Bolton asked him what he thought about it, and he got told. My buddy has a bit of personal experience with the process, having worked that very position for a few years.
I will make one suggestion that would help streamline things on your end - learn to search. You want things to move quicker? Get the dope out of their *** BEFORE you hand them over. Contrary to popular belief, most of us don't enjoy doing strip searches on these nasty folks you bring in. I know the majority of your agency is too squeamish to do it, but take a cue from Lesher. He ain't scared to dig in when he needs to, although I doubt he does it much in Homicide. You might try searching coats and shoes a bit better - hell, searching shoes at all would be a step up. I mean, it's not like folks could hide a cuff key, dope, or weapons in there. Oh wait, I've personally found all those in people's shoes.
Less contraband found = faster searches = less of a wait for you.
One other thing that "might" help - not getting the prisoners all riled up by talking smack to them prior to giving them over. If you really want things to move quicker, don't force us to have to fight someone. We ain't scared to fight, but really - sometimes you just get people all pissed for no reason and we have to deal with them. Thanks, by the way.
So, to summarize
- Run your warrant checks
- Search your prisoner thoroughly
- Don't get them wired up
- Complain about the length of the process since the additional work was put on the grill officers
Or, just whine and moan on a website about it.
