And Bill has been doing this longer than most of the posters have been drawing breath. If I'm not mistaken, he started with JCPD in 1963. I don't know Jones by name, but I'm sure I'd recognize him.

What's with all the bashing going on, anyway? I noticed a couple of people being nasty, making comments against the deputies who received their awards. If you're not happy with your own agency and the awards it hands out, try to change that one. The Sheriff's department is filled with retirees, likely more of those than people who originally started with the sheriff. So, they've been there/done that, and in many case, for 25-30 years or better. The SO is one of several local agencies to benefit from the policies of Chief White. These retirees still wanted to work as officers, but not within the constraints of LMPD's "leaders". So, places like JCSO, J-town, and St. Matthews have gotten a wealth of experienced officers.

I daresay a lot more experienced than the people bashing them. And no, I don't work for either LMPD or JCSO. I just think it's stupid for someone to be nasty towards a guy who tried to save a life or two. If you're jealous, join the JCSO. I think you'll have to wait behind a couple hundred other guys, though. The lateral list is very, very long.
