As a citizen, they actually tried to do that on a burg at my home - but I "called" them on it. Unfortunately for the lowly beat guy taking the report, who didn't know me, I insisted on it being classified as a burg 1 and felony theft (gun taken, among other things), rather that the CT1 he wrote it as. He was a bit puzzled, and called his sergeant, who DID know me - and told him, put it down as Burg1 and Theft. The officer was, but sgt, you said .... I knew what was going on, so I didn't blame either of them, but I'm sure I messed up the stats that week.
