Power of Louisville's mayor could be limited under KY Senate bill

12 years, gosh, you're close enough to retirement to get arrested and be kept in a broom closet at headquarters till you hit the 20 yr. mark. I heard that's the latest trend.

I have much to learn from "some" of my senior officers. Case and point--While handcuffing a suspect, I noticed the ecw laser dancing around on my arm. I looked back and saw a 20 year officer pointing it at me. If they had pulled the trigger, I would have been flopping like a fish. I asked them to please put it away, the suspect was compliant. They replied as they canted it off to one side, "Oh, I'm OK, I've got the angle." Most people have learned during their time on, and they have much wisdom to pass on to those of us who have not yet reached the 20 year mark. However, there are a few who deserve to be hidden in the broom closet.

I guess many of you miss the original point... I dont care if you have 2 or 20 years... If you think you know it all, then you don't. Are their folks who should have decided on other employment? Yes... In fact I can name many hired pre merger and many hired post merger. Regardless, at 12 years, I find myself learning EVERYDAY. Heck I still remember when an FTO told me "Women, wine and work will **** your career up". He was right...

But it makes me smile when I see "rooks" who get defensive when someone corrects them. After all, none of us could learn anything if we didn't accept the realities...
