Police ask for return of car take-home fees

It would be nice to see a top story on WHAS that ONCE AGAIN county government is keeping money they stole from their employees; even though METRO has been court ordered to surrender it. Sound familiar? The firefighters case was dragged out for years and cost the taxpayers more than it should. Is METRO and the Mayor going to claim ignorance to the accrued interest again? Once again the taxpayers take a hit while the fat get fatter.

Notice that Jim King has not made a comment on this issue. Don't forget the snake said we should "have skin in the game". What does he have to worry about? Apparently he has enough money to buy an election. He won't even recoupe his expenses with the salary he will make as Mayor over 4 years. Oh yeah; the Mayor gets all those million dollar kick backs.

I guess Twitter stories are more important than old ladies missing in the cold, and theft from employees right out of the Mayors office.

This is such an obvious ploy by Abramson simply to screw with the police. He was told he ws wrong and should not have done it yet JUST LIKE with the firefighters he is going to waste years and hundred's of thousands of tax dollars in the inevitable outcome.

I am so glad this crook is not running again. I hope that his bad name brings Brashear down.

Abramson owes me personally $30 a month X 3 months, $60 a month X 6 months and $160 X 6 months. That equals $1,410.00 I think that we should demand interest on our money also. It may not seem like a lot but that would have gone a long way in my household.

I wonder why Brashear hasn't made him clean up this mess yet?

I don't believe abramson for a minute when he says that he hasn't spent the money and has it put aside. In November 2008 when he made his big announcements, months before this was challenged he decided to not order any new cars. The 4.8 million dollars set aside by the council for the fleet was "appropriated" and blown somewhere. Funny thing about it he said everyone had to have skin in the game and yet he said since the Police Department had the largest budget he would go after us the most. He never told us that he stole the money for the cars that he was now charging us for.

I figure that abramson roughly stole 1.5 million from the officers overall. I want to know what account it is in? I want them to prove the money has been set aside. I also want them to pay me the inrterest that i would have received had that money been in the bank.

I'm surprised Jim King hasn't agreed to repay all the police car fees out of his own pocket. He is obviously trying to buy the election. He must have millions lying around. I'll agree to take his money in exchange for a vote in his favor. NOT!!!!

OK, I'll take the money, but he get no vote.

I read today that the motion to return the money was denied while it is being appealed. I expected this to happen, but I am glad the FOP did ask.

What struck me as interesting was in Jason Riley's article the county attorney representing the city made the comment that it was unlcear exactly how much money had been collected. WTF ???? I thought all the money had been set aside? Isn't that what Abramson's office has been saying all along? If the money has been set aside shouldn't they have an exact figure??

I am not upset with the recent ruling. I expected it because it is a natural step in the process, a hoop as it were that we are obligated to jump through. I am irritated with the whole abuse of the legal system that Abramson is famous for. It doesn't matter who he steps on in the process or how much of the taxpayer's money he wastes.

Remember to ask Abramson or any of his cronies the next time you see them, about the funny accounting principals that Metro Government uses that allows them to take money from individuals (specific amounts) yet it doesn't have an account name or it doesn't give you an exact figure inside the account.

There are other workarounds. They could pay it back by giving an equivalent amount of vacation days and saying you never lose those days and could retire early using those days if you want.

I completely support the court decision. As stated, this is part of the process that we must follow, and it would be premature to order a refund before the appeal is complete. If the shoe were on the other foot, most of you would agree. The City will be ordered to pay us back, of this I have no doubt, the only question is if they will have to pay us interest.

An opens records request via the FOP will easily see IF the money is in an actual account set aside on its own. And when it is NOT a small ad on this site, youtube, facebook and local TV station showing Jerry saying this and a copy of the documents obtained will go a long way in once again showing he is a LIAR!!!
