They are? I don't know anyone that has just "left" LMPD - they are retiring, sure, but every one I have talked to retires so they can both draw a pension AND get another policing job. If they didn't see the opportunity to do that, they wouldn't be leaving. Many would stay at LMPD IF they could retire, draw their pension, and start right back. The rubber will hit the road when the guys with 10 or so years leave for another policing job. (And of course, they can readily do so, since most, but not all, policing jobs are in the same retirement system, after all.)
