Police Change Taser Policy

Here's a thought, don't give police officers a reason to tase you! This doesn't sound that difficult to me.

If you have had to go through the academy and get tased, I say you get to aim where ever you shall choose!!

Maybe I'm a little jaded and untrusting, but it seems that by implimenting this policy and including language that specifically outlines what areas of the body are and are not to be targeted, it alows the city to potentialy wash their hands of you by claiming you are negligent if you inadvertently strike someone in a prohibited area and something goes wrong.

I have an idea. I am going to write a letter to Amnesty International and let them know that I am distressed over the handful of deaths attributed to Tasers and propose we just go back to shooting perps with our Glocks instead, because apparently killing a perp is more humane then causing them 5 seconds of pain and incapacitating them.

Anti-Police Group Fund-Raising ?Studies? are Pure Junk Science.

Summary

Why do some people succumb to sudden unexpected and unforeseeable death while encountering law enforcement officers? We all want answers and we all want to blame something. Often, some people seek to blame a single cause temporal to the person?s death, while most often the causation of death is actually multi-factorial and is usually chronic rather than acute. Resisting arrest and consuming illegal drugs, especially over a long period of time, is dangerous and often leads to ?excited delirium?-type deaths, which is the most likely explanation for this sad death.

The fact that the TASER device was used in attempts to control someone to save their life is not why they died.

Causation vs. Correlation

Why does the sun come up after the rooster crows? If you think that the rooster?s crow caused the sun to come up you have committed the post hoc ergo propter hoc logical fallacy. The statement ?post hoc ergo propter hoc? is Latin for ?after this therefore because of this.? You put your coat on before you go out on a winter day. Do you think your coat caused the air to turn cold? That is why some reporters lacking both scientific training and an understanding of statistics may see causations where there is none.[i],[ii],[iii]

About 20,000 Americans die annually of drug-related causes according to the Center for Disease Control.[iv] A cocaine overdose death is not a peaceful sleepy death like one from heroin ? especially if the individual is a chronic abuser. It is violent, disturbing, and with bizarre behavior.[v] It is also ugly, sad and tragic. The methamphetamine epidemic is also causing a rapidly increasing number of stimulant deaths which may top those of cocaine. The end-stage of chronic cocaine or methamphetamine usage is a fairly consistent sequence of events typically referred to ?excited delirium.?[vi],[vii],[viii] These same symptoms can also be seen in violent struggle deaths triggered by a psychiatric episode.[ix],[x] This has been recognized as far back as before the American Civil War.[xi

OUCH.....

I SAY JUST RECALL ALL THE TAZERS AND WE'LL GO BACK TO MACE. THIS DEPT CHANGES THE POLICY EVERY WEEK IN SOME FACTION OR ANOTHER. AND AS THE ONE POST STATED WHEN YOU AIM LOWER THE SECOND PRONG ALSO WILL GO LOWER, MAYBE IN THE GROWING OR BETWEEN THE LEGS. I DONT KNOW, I STILL LIKE THE JOB BUT GET SICK OF ALL THE BITCHIN. ....I KNOW EVERYONE SHOULD CARRY STUFFED ANIMALS IN THER TRUNK AND THROW THEM AT THE PERP.

A Florida gunman, who shot and killed an officer and his police dog, was shot at 110 times and hit 68 times when SWAT team members found him the following day hiding in the woods under a tree trunk and he refused to show his hands. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said the fugitive would have been shot more, but the SWAT team ran out of bullets.

Angilo Freeland (pictured), 27, a suspected drug dealer, fled from police after he was pulled over in a routine traffic stop by Deputy Douglas Speirs. The deputy called for back-up and Deputy Vernon Matthew Williams answered the call with his police dog.

As they followed the suspect into the woods there was a "burst of gunfire" and Deputy Williams and his dog were killed and Speirs was wounded in the leg. An autopsy report revealed that Williams, 39, was shot eight times. He was shot once a close range behind his right year and again in his right temple.

After a massive manhunt for the fugitive through the night, a SWAT team surrounded Freeland in a thickly wooded area hiding under a fallen tree. When he failed to show the officers both hands and they spotted a handgun in one of his hands, they opened fire. Freeland's autopsy showed that he was shot 68 times. An investigation of the scene revealed that police fired 110 rounds.

**********BEST PART OF THE STORY***********

"That's all the bullets we had, or we would have shot him more," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told reporters.

Another case of the city worried more about the well being of turds than the decent hard working people who live here and don't have the occasion to have a confrontation with police.

4 months to go and counting.

have you seen the new video of the police beating? It's a young Asian man and the video shows nothing bad at all but it still makes the news as a police beating. Thats what sells thats what gets viewers.

Continue to use your Taser as trained regarding aiming for center mass ... everything depends on how the situation is "written up." It just means that the Sgt.'s will have to get a little bit more creative in their writing ability.

Officers who aim tasers at someone's face or neck, or tase handcuffed people, or tase people just for insulting them, or tase pregnant women, or repeatedly tase some guy not posing a threat are either devoid of common sense, sadistic or are afraid to use empty hand control. Better to see the idiots get fired than for departments to decide to pull Tasers off the street.

Lying is usually the worst thing you can do if there's an investigation. The feds can send you away for 5 years if you lie to them, even if the original charges don't hold up. You'd be better off refusing to talk without an attorney present.

I will have to make up a legally binding waiver or something now - just to save myself from the ambulance chasers, the ACLU, and my own department:

Dear suspect,

Please answer the following questions to the best of your mind-altered ability:

1. Are you currently using CRACK, METHAMPHETAMINES, POWDER COCAINE, MARIJUANA, HEMP, ALCOHOL, HEROIN, PRESCRIPTIONS THAT YOU STOLE, METHADONE, LSD, PCP, ANGEL DUST, or other unlisted drugs? ____________

2. Is your pulse dangerously high?___________________

3. Do you have diabetes? ____________________

4. Have you previously been diagnosed with an abnormal mental condition? if so list here _________________

HEY STOP TRYING TO KILL ME WITH THAT, GET OUT OF THE ROAD AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS

5. Are you abusing your prescriptions that you 'doctor shopped' to get?_______________

6. Do you feel as if you are going to have a heart attack because of your behavior, and your family of thugs will blame this on me or the department? ______________

7. Will you politely turn around so I can tase you in the back and not possibly hit the chest area? _____________

If your answers to ques. 1-6 were 'No', and to ques. 7 'YES', then sign and date at the bottom, kindly had it to the notary public next to me, and let me tase you.

next will be fuzzy handcuffs, sponge batons, and cameras mounted our skulls. HAVE A NICE DAY, and please don't do anything illegal or I will have to threaten you with taking a report and get a warrant when you flee.

Let us go back to nightsticks and slapjacks for a couple months then these fools will see that the taser isn't so bad.

Why is no one saying what the obvious is? Those listed subjects died from EXCITED DELERIUM! I know it was found during the brain testing from the autopsy. They would have died anyway, from the tazer or any other stress we induced on them. If you are a thug, a nut job, or just a crack head, and mean to cause harm to the public or officers who are sworn to protect EVERYONE in this city, you should expect us to use whatever means reasonable to stop you. Everyone wants to blame everyone or everything other than who is truly at fault. Where is the demand for personal accountability in this world?

I hope that we finally get a set of balls when the new administration takes over and tell these slugs that if you do this, we'll do that. You don't like it, then don't make us have to come get you. Fingers crossed but logically disheartened.

Stay safe my brothers and sisters, and if you are in danger and all you have is a chest shot..... TAKE IT! It's better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. Go home at the end of your shift.....
