Extra Vacation Pay, Other Payments To Mayor's Staff Questioned By Metro Council

Are they serious? Every division except probably the 8th has officers refused vaction time because of manpower shortages and other BS.

This police agency and definately Metro Govt. has become nothing more than a JOKE.

If you guys don't quit locking people up and take a stand this will never stop. Take a stand and lets put these lawyers that run this town out of business.

Some Council members also raised concerns about $85,000 in "service time pay" received by Metro Police Chief Robert White. The audit found White had received the payment, but that there weren't reviews in place to be sure it was appropriate.

The mayor's office said White received the money as part of a pre-employment agreement to put $25,000 per year into his pension fund for five years. The money would offset what he lost for leaving a similar post in North Carolina back in 2003

Hornig said Mayor Jerry Abramson asked his opinion about the request and that he recommended the policy exception in light of the fact that the city was facing a $20 million budget shortfall, and couldn't afford to allow Driskell and Johnstone to take all of their vacation at a time when their expertise was sorely needed.

*So let me get this straight. Due to the fact that they could technically accumulate more V-Time on their accrual totals by not being allowed use of any of what THEY HAD, if they DIDNT USE ANY of what they COULDNT USE, then they GET MORE than what they saved by not using ANY. That makes absolutely no sense.

I'm going to go to work tomorrow and ask for a week of V-Time. When I'm told I cant use a whole week because my expertise is NEEDED to keep the streets balanced and they CANT AFFORD for me to be with my family, I'm going to ask that an EXTRA WEEK AND 1/2 be added to my accrual total in ADDITION to the week I SAVED by BEING DENIED to take my week I requested in the first place.

Thats what the Mayor and Hornig said in their statement. Why do you laugh when I say it? You laugh like Im crazy and things like that will never happen. They just did. You people better wake up and stop playing the countys game.

Guys, I dont have a dog in the fight, I'm not LMPD - but EVERY TIME you are denied vacation time, you need to document it - send a "return receipt requested" to Hornig - so that when you lose it, you can rightfully demand it back. Copy it to your council member, if you live in Metro Louisville. This proves what I already knew, special favors for special people. JA probably has no idea how many people in "his" government lose vacation and comp time regularly. Years ago, I was forced to work on a special project that everyone knew would take at least six weeks of 16 hour days - and that I was already getting closed to being maxed out on comp time due to other responsibilities. JA HIMSELF told me that he would "make it right" - when he learned that several of us didn't get OT, but comp. Needless to say, that was the last I heard of it, I went at least 200 hours over, and I left shortly afterward. I did get all my vacation time, but of course, none of my unused sick time.

BOYCOTT FURLOUGH DAYS

Are you all paying attention? Not only did they get to keep what they couldnt use, the Mayor gave them an extra time and a half ON TOP of what they were allowed to max out at. They cahed out an extra 20 days on top of their so called limit of 40. Lets see Driskell and Johnstone make about $100,00 a year. Thats about $48.00 an hour. Thats $384.00 a day times 20 extra days. Thats a ADDED BONUS of $7,680.00 on top of the 40 days ($15,360.00) they were supposed to max out at. So they made roughly $23,000 just to leave and come right back at $96,000. Are you kidding me?

The chief made clear who is important on this issue.

Chief can get $100,000 just to say yes sir to the Mayor, and treat his troops like garbage.

Or he can say I'm a man of honor and you are a cheating liar Mayor, no I dont want any of your payoffs. The community is to important for me to be paid off.

We all know which option he took. Pay attention people. Nobody cares about you!!!

The article in the CJ was interesting today. They treated him well but were still critical of this call. What was interesting is that they left out the part about lay offs that are occuring because of his mismanagement. It isn't just not filling positions that are vacant and furlough days, but he is laying off civillian employees.

Yet he can create overpaid positions for his cronies and give them monies they are not entitled to by policy. Let's get this straight, neither one retired on an emergency basis and both came back to a high paying plush job.

Abramson is such a crook.

At what point does this pattern of behavior go beyond mismanagement and become a criminal violation. I know it would screw up the Gov's race, but how about federal charges? As a post script here, any Metro employee furloughed or laid off has a right to be upset! Now that T.Clay is free from the Goofy Lady (Cypher) case, maybe he can handle some class action business.

The ticket was bad enough, but to add insult to injury: Kickbacks and Velcro drove by while I was pulled over and flashed gang signs and called me a stanky crook. I am gonna get you all for this.
