That is one of the problems you have Sir. You post without knowing just how tings work in the departmetn. His Police powers were immediately suspended upon his arresst (once the department was notified) He doesn't have a take home car. (Lives in Hoosierville) He will work. He will continue to be paid until if and when his charges in Florida are ajudicated and the PIU/PSU cases are resolved.

As far as I know this is an equal standard for all Metro Employees. If not then it should bem but honestly, I don't tip garbage cans for a living nor do I get so drunk I crawl (or my buddies place me there) in them.

Remember the original idea for the story. It is about a city employee that did something stupid. unfortunately the Mayor chose to blame the cops for taking a picture rather than show outrage over his cronies drunken actions.

Actually, most civilian employees go back to work the next day without any loss of privileges or pay. I'm sure that since you know everything else about being a sworn officer, you knew that, too.

I work in a neat little place that allows me to see pretty much everyone in the city who is arrested. A guy that works for Metro Parks and gets a DUI isn't gonna have anything happen to him. He'll get ROR'd, and likely be at work mowing the grass the next day...or cleaning up litter, or whatever. Been there, seen it happen. Doesn't matter what .gov agency employs them, if it's not a sworn officer, they don't make the news, don't get into trouble at work, etc.

Let a cop drive drunk, and get caught...boy, you'll be on the news quick. Not saying DUI isn't bad (and you're a ******** if you do it), but why doesn't the news report Julio for the outstanding BA result of .280 that he got? Why doesn't a CPA for a large accounting firm get on the news for getting caught with weed? After all, he's in charge of large sums of money. Should he NOT be held to a higher standard?

Double standard with the media/cops. Other than the officers on this board, how many remember John Boles getting hooked for DUI (again) last year? Didn't think so...non story with the media. They're not cannibals, and don't necessarily eat their own. Yeah, it made the nightly news, and went away the next day. No one bothered to follow up with his court dates or anything like that. Not like a few of our brethren who've screwed up...

Here's a real fun fact for you -

When certain people are arrested, they'll spend a couple of hours in the jail at the most. This, when a typical stay is 6-8 hours minimum. I know of cases where a judge has already ordered the release of a person from jail before they're even booked in to the facility; that process normally only takes about an hour to complete.

Just ask anyone who's ever arrested a criminal defense attorney, or someone in a judge's family. Not only do they NOT get punished by their employer for their actions, they get special treatment by other lawyers/judges. How's that work for you?

Regarding the current topic of this attorney? Does anyone here really believe he'll take some hits professionally for his actions? I didn't think so. According to our intrepid know-it-all trucker boy, a person in this position of trust should get slammed for his actions. Kinda like he thinks cops should have happen to them. I'll bet a significant portion of my pension that not only will nothing substancial be done by his employer (the city of Jeffersonville), but no one will file a complaint with the Indiana Bar concerning his embarrassing behavior.

Lawyers are "Officers of the Court", and are supposed to be held to a higher standard, as well. Guess we know how that double standard works.
