i am cop and i say the officer arrested in florida was no doubt arrested for good reason, and will get whatever he deserves. from his past behavior he should have been stripped of his badge long ago. what an embarassment he is to our profession. i dont care who i make mad in saying what i just said. a leader should lead from the front, not the rear, and be an example, not a joke. we all have issues and there is no excuse to behave the way he did in florida.

Let me briefly explain one thing. We as a profession just as I am sure you in your profession want nothing more than to get rid of the slugs and bad apples. They have rights though. I have arrested a lot of turds that were obviously guilty and yet some liberal judge lets them out. It takes a year sometimes for them to get to trial because all of the trash can crawling attorneys file continuances and motions and delay tactics to delay the inevitable (and ususally to get more money out of their client.)

I arrested a guy the other day who hired a shyster that bears a remarkable resemblance to the 37th president of the United States. He had a traffic ticket. The guy works everyday and pays this POS $200 bucks to take care of it. He walks in, gets it ammended but fails to tell his client about it and the guy gets a bench warrant. (It was a year and a half old so obviously the guy wasn't a thug) He called said slug attorney while we were down at the jail and was giving him hell about not notifying him about the court costs. Gues what happened? Sluggo told him he would represent him on the new charge but he would have to get someone to bond him out first. OMG!

The thing is it isn't about right and wrong it is about attorneys manupulating the system in order to make money for themselves, just like the Mayor of Jeff isn't focusing on the right issue here.

Sorry, I wandered there a bit. If a cop is dirty I want him gone as bad as you do. We all do. Our department is a microcosym of our community. We get people that do 110% at work, those that do 75% and those that do 30%. Guess what? They all get paid the same. It is a shame. I wish we could use a Ouija board or crystal ball to see who is going to be a douchebag. Unfortunatley we have to deal with the problems as they arise.

You missed the point. You obviously don't like the "paid" administrative leave part. That is contractual. Nobody was defending him. In my personal opinion he is done. Put a fork in him. Alas it doesn't lie to me to make that decision. This is America and you are innocent until proven guilty.

The idea behind paid administrative leave it just that. While the case is being investigated the department is not going to jump the gun. It is being investigated and the findings wil be made public. I look for the outcome to be termination in this case. While the case is being investigated though, are his kids not supposed to eat? Is he not supposed to pay his bills. What if he is innocent? Is it right to cause all of that hardship to him and his family?

Oh yeah for 3-6 months you will get no salary, but we'll give it back if we find you innocent. Could you live like that?

Again, I know very little about the case. Everyone around here knows very little. He is charged with 2 felonies and a misdemeanor. Guess what being charged doesn't make you guilty.
