No, that only applies to the police.

Right?.. truck drivers are not fired for something that could happed in Florida, (as long and it doesnot involve his CDL requirements)

I didnt say that. I said that he should not be paid while the investigation is going on, because he isnt working. If he is cleared, then he can receive the money, and if not, then he is his own responsibility. Should taxpayers have to pay a trucker to do nothing while he is awaiting a trial on a DUI? Should they have to pay a doctor to sit at home while he awaits a malpractice suit?

The reason this is an extraordinary case is that a cop carries with it the responsibility to diffuse these situations, to prevent violence, and protect victims. IF the cop is accused of perpetrating the very crime he is supposed to stop, well, its quite logical that there could be the expectation of impropriety.

If you werent a cop, and your mother, or sister was a victim of domestic violence, would you want the cop responding to be a spousal abuser as well? Would you really expect a fair and impartial treatment?

There is a reason that people guilty of embezzlement cant get jobs as treasurers, why drug abusers dont go to work in pharmacies. Its called logic.
