While I appreciate your refusal to resort to insults, and respect your opinion, you are wrong about my motives. My coming here has nothing to do with making myself feel better about anything. It is about things that are wrong, and trying to correct them.

You see, I am not the one who apparently needs to feel better about myself, because I am not the one making myself immune to laws that apply to everyone else, I am not the one trying desperately to convinve the public that my profession is heroes because of the uniform, and I am not the one who puts my occupation above the rest of society and acts accordingly. I dont refer to myself as a hero, and I certainly do not inflate the danger to excuse all of the above.

I also will expect and of the aforementioned occupations to do their job to the best of their ability, as I continue to do mine without regard to whom it is that is benefitting from my services. It is my job as it is theirs.

"How often do you go to deliver a load and think about someone behind

that door might have a gun and want to kill you or fight you or hurt

someone inside."

Thats a relevant question when focused directly on, but open it up a little bit. EVERY minute of every day I am wondering who will pull out in front of me, who will decide at the last minute to change lanes and stop in front of me. You see, while I may not have to worry about who is behind any given door, I do have my life hanging in the balance of my ability to react to other peoples actions, and not only mine, but everyone else on the roadway. Just as with law enforcement, there is a POTENTIAL every minute of every day.

Lastly, as to ignoring the negative, I completely disagree with that, in so far as there is valid negative and invalid negative. While you cettainly can choose to simply dismiss what I say as invalid, firstly, you have had other people on here who agreed with me that certain things are an issue for the image of cops, and second, I have backed up my claims of actions, putting insults aside. I certainly hope that my occupation never decides to "ignore the negative" because there are lots of negatives that screw us over regularly. I believe that truckers are no less responsiblle for working to enhance their public image, we just arent in a position to make excuses and create legends about why we shouldnt have to worry about correcting the wrongs.
