How hard did you try to find more current statistics? Here...

(www).truckline.com/Newsroom/Pages/SafetyStatistics.aspx

2004? 2006? That recent enough for you?

Nice speech, again, but lets equalize the comparison. How much time do truckers spend at the wheel vs cops at the wheel? Ever heard of a cop turning 700+ miles per day? Now, if you take the time spent at the wheel versus the number of accidents, it would seem that cops need the driver training more, but thats just an example of the way you tried to work the facts into an insult.

Aside from the fact that dead is dead, the cause of death means little to our family members. I doubt a truckers family would grieve him saying they are glad he wasnt shot, like a cop could be, and likewise, I doubt the family of a dead cop would lament his loss wishing that he had been killed in an accident like a trucker is more likely to be.

Funny thing about truck wrecks, the cab is a weight saving fiberglass box, with thin steel frame. Now, put 25-30 tons behind you, and imagine what it takes to stop that much weight. The cab aint gonna do it. Ask the puddle that was left of the driver killed at the end of 265 when he hit the wall at Brownsboro.

The thing you fail to understand about truckign accidents is 1, the high rollover rate of top heavy vehicles, and 2, we cannot stop on a dime, turn on a dime, or accelerate out of the way. We react to roadway conditions, and remember, 75% of the time, accidents involving cars and trucks are the fault of the car, that is on the link I provided as well, but I also heard it on Paul Harvey a few years back. The reason those factors are important, is that many many times, even our solo accidents are the result of avoiding some idiot in a four wheeler who thinks he is the only person on the road and drives as such. Of course there are also drivers who fall asleep, or even unfit for duty drivers. Take that one however you want.

As to the rampant drug use that truckers are known for, well, aside from that being another attempt to slander me, it is simply false. That webpage I listed above has that information too. Funny, I also posted a webpage of federal statistics that show cops are much more likely to abuse alcohol and drugs than the average citizen, but you wouldnt want to incriminate yourself would you? Wasnt it easier to just ignore that fact?

Your jobs are directly comparable to the military? Really? You believe your own hype? How many roadside bombs have you tripped on theWatterson? How many IED's have been detonated next to your cruiser while you were in it? If you expect me to believe that being a cop is ANYWHERE near being a soldier, then YOU are, how did you put it..."either deliberately obtuse, or just another mouth breathing idiot that

needs a machine to help with what should be an involuntary and

autonomous function." April 2008 had 50 soldiers die, and you had 134 NATIONWIDE for the same year. Oh yeah, thats a realistic comparison. Youre grasping, and so desperate and it shows. Keep in mind that youre the one who started the insults here.

When did I say that anyone was disqualified from being a hero? How can you try to rebut my arguments when you dont even know what was said to begin with? I said heroism is within THE PERSON, not the uniform. Obviously you think the opposite or this conversation wouldnt be taking place. Again, you claim that I disparaged the military because of theirlower death rate than others, it has NOTHING to do with the numbers, it has to do with the PERSON. How many times will I need to repeat this so that you can get it? (reference the above insult quoted FROM YOU, once again).

Id be happier if the death rate were higher? You MUST be high, seek help. Get sober and clean out your ears, get glasses. I have NEVER wished harm upon a cop, in spite of what has been said FOR you on here about me. See, for a cop to get intentionally hurt, or anyone for that matter, it has to be at the hands of a criminal. It is NOT a cops OR criminals thing with me, im not pro criminal at all. I am not anti-cop, I am anti abuse.

The last time a trucker was shot at, I believe was March of this year, in South Carolina, most recent one I can think of.

(www).dailygazette.com/news/2009/mar/08/0308_trucker/ remember me talking about how dangerous it can be sleeping in a truck, locked doors didnt do him much good.

How many times have i taken a round, well, Ive already answered this question, and the truth is that Ive seen more life threatening action than a lot of cops will in their entire career. I have worked in a situation that required bullet proof windows, because we were shot at multiple times. Ive had a molotov cocktail thrown at my truck, but it missed.

Ive had a mason jar, with marble sized rocks in it, and filled with paint, thrown at my windshield. The rocks break the windshield, the paint seeps into the cracks, blinding you, hoping that you will wreck before you can stop. In indianapolis, I had some whacko walk out into the roadway of I-65, and hurl a brick through my windshield asI drove by at 60 mPH, all because he was ******** that he couldnt get in front of me on the entrance ramp 3 miles earlier. had I not been wearing sunglasses, I would likely be blind right now, because the windshield exploded so severely there were thousands of glass shards embedded in the back of the sleeper, 4 feet behind me. i had the outline of the sunglasses on my face, in blood where the glass had hit me.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention this, the whole getting shot at, was because I was working a strike at a steelmill, in Youngstown Ohio, so by his assertion, that means that I deserved it. The local cops did nothing by the way, because they all had friends and family at the steelmill.

According to you, that should make me a hero, but it doesnt. It makes me a victim of a crime. I am the one who signed on to do the job in spite of the warnings, I knew what I was getting myself into, just like you do.

You can argue that some of you will face such a situation more than I ever will, and you would be right. How about waiting until someone DOES something heroic instead of demanding it just because you put on a uniform.

I also know that you will label me as not being able to make a post without insult, but I believe the only one I used was yours, so does that still count?
