Police Union Airs Grievances Over Kentucky Derby |
RE: Police Union Airs Grievances Over Kentucky Derby
I'm not sure that refering to fellow officers as morons is a good way to make your point...after all you depend on those morons to cover you from time to time.
We can agree to disagree but we still need to be respectful in our discourse. Too many people.....public, politicians and police, forget why the take home car program was created. Not because anyone wanted to do something nice for the police but because it saved the city and county big money. Now we are being asked to pay for something that benefits the city more than us, and we are being asked to do it because of fiscal mismanagement by this administration. How can anyone in their right mind see this as acceptable? The rates will go up, our helth care costs will go up and our future contracts and or raises will not....at least as long as jerry is the mayor.
It's about doing what is right and principled. If we win the labor dispute (there is no decision yet) no problem. If we don't and the lodge votes to park the cars (we've actually already voted for that) then everyone should park the cars period. If we don't then the FOP is truly irrelevant, as is our contract and we should just work at the mayors pleasure. As for me I'm going with the FOP vote because it is right.
I'm just glad the guys at Lexington and Concord decide to stand for what they believed in and not settled for what helped them come out on top. We would still be subjects of the crown using that logic.

How much, exactly, are you willing to pay for the car? Not just the "fee" - but everything that goes with that car, the time you are EXPECTED TO SPEND UNCOMPENSATED off-duty because you have the car? And the first time you don't stop, and draw a complaint for that, then what?
So, when can the FOP expect your resignation? Obviously you want to make choices individually, so do so, don't be a member of an organization that is supposed to be looking out for the collective interest of its members.
