The Heroes of Ronwood

April 24th, 2009 @ 9:54AM (15 years ago)

What's really sad is, Andrea and the Police Department would have been crucified had she not been injured. This has happened in this community in recent years and it is 100% true. Some newsies like to portray us as killers and untrained louts if we "do unto them" before they "do unto us" As a result Officers get injured. Just so everyone knows, just because he was not armed doesn't eliminate him as a threat. The fact he was naked screamed volumes that he didn't care about anything and nothing was going to phase him.

It reminds me of the time I picked up a homeless guy at Baxter and Highland on an Assault 2 warrant. Some little liberal puke butts in and says "He isn't hurting anyone" and "You've got not right to make war on the poor" (Or some other BS like that)

I finished putting the troll in the car then turned around and informed our little friend of the earth, water and sky that I did indeed have probable cause to make an arrest. the guy was wanted for assaulting another vagrant. I also informed said savior of the oppressed that he was also on parole for a Manslaughter Charge where he knifed and killed one of his fellow downtrodden and oppressed compatriots years before. I thanked him for his social outrage for this obviouslly oprressed individual and hoped that my facts wouldn't disuade him from his campaign on helping the innocent being beaten down by the man. (Other than the fact that he was a flaming liberal I am sure he was intelligent enough to see through my sarcasm.)( I am equally sure that if I would have had to fight this guy he would have been the first to jump in and help me.........................BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! ROFLMAO)

Seriously, I am glad Andrea will be allright and it is a shame that one of us had to get hurt in order not to be crucified by the media.

I'm gonna be the mean one and say not all cops at Thornton's are multitasking. The ones in the east end hang out there for 2-3 hours AT A TIME without leaving and coming back. Now, I understand that this is an isolated part of town and when I drive in other parts, I hardly ever see officers at Thornton's and when I do, it's a quick in and out because they clearly look busy.

Thanks to the hardworking cops in this city for picking up the slack for their not so great counterparts and for protecting a community that 90% couldn't care less about your well being and emotional, mental, physical effects of the job. It may be unpopular to say there are lazy, inefficient cops on the department, but there are. That's the nature of ANY job and ANY company. But for every couple of lazy guys, there are 10 guys busting their a$$ to keep everyone safe and sacrificing time with their family to do their job and do it well. I appreciate you guys the most.

Paul, great article. Thanks for recognizing the heros in our community who put their lives on the line every day so our community is a safe one to live in. And thank you for recognizing the civilian heros who were at the scene helping Andrea. And to the 66 YEAR OLD MAN. Thank you sir for saving one of our sister officers. You are a true hero to all LMPD officers.

Paul - well intended and well put. We all gain from your superb writing ability and aspire to express ourselves with your enthusiasm and expertise.

Trucker - you are just a befuddled dork without purpose - get a life.

Adam District/8th Div - Don't be offended by some recent posts. We all know you work hard and have as many good officers as anywhere else. Sometimes you are busy and sometimes you aren't - nature of the beast. All we ask is that when something does happen - not everyone needs to get on the radio at once and sound all excited - it will be OK. Just go back each other up and don't give updates on what gear and lane you are currently in!! ha ha just humor. seriously, the East End does have some pretty smart cops, and they do work hard.

Paul -- Once again, you hit it. We are so grateful for officers like Andrea, and more grateful that no one was killed. Thanks for being balanced in your column to recognize the "everyday" heroism of the neighbor who was shot. Amazing how well things can turn out when we all work together, eh?

Take care, be safe, and know that your Div. 5 folks really appreciate all you do!!

At one point, you will be found out. If you haven't like you say, and that is possible that you have not. But you cannot keep it up. Everyone will know who you really are. Ahh to have your name to be "mudd" with everyone you have been taunting Police, Fire, EMS, and lets not forget someone's mom you insulted (then turned it around like you were not the first to throw that stone) . To know your name will be at the back of everyon's mind, and when your name is mentioned you will be recalled as the one. Your insults have grown steadily every day, but thats ok. Your arrogance will be the factor in your identity becoming known.

I'm sure you will take this as a threat "to your well being", nooo it's not. Just an observation. Your face will become known also. Why would you do that to yourself. Set yourself up for ridicule?

I for one will laugh out loud when it happens. Imagine having people looking at you knowing you were the one calling them cowards etc.

Just a thought for the day.

Here we go again with everyone arguing with the "trucker" instead of addressing topics that matter, let's just call this www(dot)argue with the trucker(dot)com and then we can make another web site for the rest of us that care about other things.
