Investigation finds Gross Mismanagement in city government

Does this really surprise anyone? Mayor Jerry has manipulated this city for years. Every citizen I talk to ask me why we put up with this. My reply......we're working on it. Change is coming. Lets keep the pressure on him and his cronies so this city can move forward and stop regressing. The citizens for the most part ( tax paying ones) are behind us. The cars are just a small portion of this ordeal. As Bill Lamb says....."That's my opinion".

Nepotism...it aint pretty, it just is. Deal with it! Who cares whether or not you like it, no one said life is fair.Quit whining about how youre mistreated by the mean ole mayor!

Dear Federal and State Investigators,

I have been a citizen of Jefferson County and Kentucky for some time and enjoy living here, however I am on the verge of moving along with many others I know who are sick and tired of our government turning their back on public corruption. I must ask, to what degree must our community suffer before either decide to act and investigate-a job my taxes pay you to do! The corrpution and financial problems Louisville face continue to reveal themselves almost bi-weekly now, when will there be enough interest in our city?

Kudos to WHAS for publishing the facts that are current available. Shame on you to FOX news' Bill Lamb who used to support public employees and take on the big issues, now it appears the mayor has influenced you to do editorials that are pro-jerry and pro-you. I must say you really looked like whiner crying about the federal government dictating to you when your station could go digital. Kinda bothers you doesn't it?

This is one department under Metro Government. Look at the money that disappears on the Police Department. Grant money being spent on other projects. We all knew this was going on for years in ALL departments. I don't understand when the FBI is going to step in. Jerry funnels so much money from all departments of Metro Government. If this was to ever come to light, people would be astonished at the numbers and needless to say Jerry would meet his new boy toy in prison. If that happened, wouldn't Troy be a little jealous????

Mayor Abramson is the main reason I am moving out of this city. Sad, since I grew up here and have lived and worked here my entire life. I no longer consider Louisville "home". Everything about Abramson's administration disgusts me, and this whole witch-hunt against the officers is just the last thing I can watch him destroy.

The mayor is flying to DC to talk about stimulus money. How much you want to bet he'll be asking to call the Feds off his A$$. I'm sure one Dem will take care of another and order them off. I'm afraid we are still screwed here in jerryville.

have a question. In the WHAS 11 story it was pointed out that Dep. Mayor Bill Summers got his son AJ Summers and the son of one of his business partners jobs at the VERY corrupt Louisville Housing Authority. The Metro Ethics Commision (who I assume are appointed by Jerry) saw nothing wrong with the fact that these two positions did not exist prior to being filled by these two fellas. They weren't posted as open to anyone else when they were created and filled by AJ and the other guys son at $64,000 per year. Now because of a little heat AJ had to be moved out of the Housing Authority and where did he land......at Metro HR as the assistant director.

Now one other little fact, AJ Summers was also an assistant basketball coach at Kentucky State. Last summer the LMPD had it's first PAID summer intern at the PD. He was a tall fella who sat down in ETU reading the paper (because he could do nothing else....by the way he was never given a polygraph so him being around evidence could be a big problem....anyway)...This tall fella apparently has no ties to Louisville and no creditials to be PAID as an intern...when money is tight in the great metro government, so how did he get a job in the Police Department, which falls under Public Safety, which is under Deputy Bill Summers..........well he played basketball at Kentucky State for, can you guess........AJ Summers!

Now for all of you Metro employees that have been forced to take a furlough day or pay more out of your check just be comforted in knowing that you savings to the city has gone to good use..........supporting unethical politicians and their family members and friends (or basketball players).

I am sure the media will take this up and run with it and maybe a federal investigation into the Metro Ethics Comm. can also be launched.

I HAVE JUST LEARNED THAT TWO MECHANICS AT LOGAN STREET HAVE VOLUTEERED TO MOVE TO THE NEWBURG SHOP IN HOPES OF ESCAPING THE INCOMPENCY OF SUPERVISION AT LOGAN STREET.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DAYS OF EARNING YOUR POSITION?

I was going to say something about the officers in Indiana who were shot and that I'm glad they are in at least stable condition and should pull through, and God be with them and their families. Then I changed my mind I figured our trucker friend would get back on here and tell us again how policing is not dangerous and he sees more danger every day in his big rig. So everyone please keep all truckers in your prayers.

The trucks themselves are not dangerous, its the drivers that operate them. I have witnessed many drivers commit acts of carelessness. They for the most part, not all take the trucks for granted. They lie on their logs, they speed, tailgate cars, cut others drivers off. The laws that govern drivers are not geared to keep them from doing what they know is wrong. They more geared towards lining the pockets of the counties they're caught in. Because if it were for safety's sake, the courts would not reduce the tickets that are written. And the officers certainly would not give the drivers a break when they know the driver is in the wrong. Many times I have seen a highway patrol man sitting in the median and not stop a driver that is breaking the law. Where most truck drivers know the officer will let them get away with going 5 mph over the speed limit, so they will do 10 over. Also the way some drivers go down the down grades is just insane.

They will get on a motorists bumper so to speak, this is called pushing to get them out of the way, so they can get in front of them. And to call the offending drivers company is useless, the company doesn't do anything about it, the police usually don't do anything about it, so here is where road rage usually takes place. Motorist are no match for a big truck, as you well know the motorist will lose. The laws are not stiff enough for drivers and should be re-written to induce safety instead improving the counties finances. I have seen many accidents, and all accidents can be avoided. If people motorists and truck drivers will drive like they are suppose to. Unfortunately this isn't going to happen because people are in a hurry and truck drivers want to make more money, after all thats why were out here. The trucking schools pump out drivers like there is no tomorrow. The average length for trucking school is 2 weeks, and if they go with a trainer there is another 3 to 4 weeks then they're turned loose on society with a vehicle capable of carrying 80,000 lbs legally. And if the trainer is any good then the driver may be good, if the trainer is just pushing them through, which some do then you have a disaster waiting to happen. And to be quite honest I wouldn't want to be behind them.

How is it that Abramson seems to be able to carry on and continue to parlay the economic future of Louisville with the same impunity that has brought us to the brink of disaster and still nothing is being done about it. Talk about the wheels of justice grinding slowly. (There you go Truckie...not all Law Enforcement moves fast...he.he)

I loved his little comment about the "Buck Stops Here." BS! It started there with you political appointments adn cronyism form of government. What ever happened to hiring the best person for the job? What ever happened with with applications, testing , background checks and proper training?

It takes half a year or better to go throught the screening and application process to get on the Poilce Department and another 32 weeks in the academy followed up with yet another 20 weeks of riding with a training Officer yet for over twice the money you will put untrained and unqualified individuals with absolutely no experience in the field of Housing and Urban Developement or management in charge and wonder why they fail so meserably.

Your claims of the buck stopping with you have fallen on deaf ears. What you wanted to say was that you hope to God that this investigation dosen't go any further to reveal your inneptitude and malfeasance. What the community should have heard from you was. I AM SORRY! IMADE A MISTAKE IN TRYING TO TAKE CARE OF MY DEPUTY MAYOR'S SON. Instead you slip him into another position in Metro Government that he can screw up.

Instead of correcting the mistake and putting qualified people that know the business in charge you slide your cronie Tina Heavrin into the position. Oh yeah, another Lawyer with no experience running this program and managing federal grants...good call!

Wasn't her husband the one on the news that had a boot put on his car and he smashed it? I wonder what ever happened to that case. Could it be that it was buried because a political hack like yourself will cover up for his buddies? Did he ever have to repay to replace the boot he damaged? Did he ever pay for the backlog of parking tickets or had all of that been swept under the rug too?

Obama warns mayors not to waste stimulus money

Invoking his own name-and-shame policy, President Barack Obama warned the nation's mayors on Friday that he will "call them out" if they waste the money from his massive economic stimulus plan.

"The American people are watching," Obama told a gathering of mayors at the White House. "They need this plan to work. They expect to see the money that they've earned - they've worked so hard to earn - spent in its intended purposes without waste, without inefficiency, without fraud."

I've got a question for everyone on this site. Why do you waste your time trying to engage "Spunky" the trucker in a debate over any topic? Isn't it obvious that there is no point or counterpoint that will ever get him to see any side of an issue other than his own narrow perspective. I think by arguing with him, you give him exactly what he wants, attention and some sort of twisted validation. Just do what I do. Respond to all of his comments by calling him "Spunky" and asking him politely to shut his spunk-dumpster. Then ignore him and move on to more pertinent comments. Maybe then he'll get bored and go back to posting blasphemous comments on his home website at Louisville atheists and free thinkers. By the way, I think he's the bald one in the photo posted there. I stopped a big rig today hoping that it was you...it wasn't. I wrote him a ticket anyway. That truck driver told me to tell you "Thanks".

I hope everyone sees the type of person the trucker seems to be.

His injection of the military to this discussion board, then accusing us of the camparison clearly shows to me, he is here for non productive reasons.

I have been guilty of it, but no longer. I too will ignore his posts.

I like a police officer who isn't afraid of criminals when he's on the job. I also like fellow journalists who aren't afraid to call out criminals to their faces, in print. You are amazing. Perhaps when you retire from LMPD, there's a place for you as a political watchdog, consumer advocate, or on the staff of the C-J or local TV station. FREE CARS and OFF DUTY jobs, I bet there are some really wealthy police officers who CRY CRY CRY! I have no love for the selfish egotistical police (some not ALL) of Metro Louisville. Not to mention that you Police free loaders pay almost nothing for health insurance..All other metro employees pay more than triple what you pay and the coverage is not even as good. Yeah the secret is out and the truth hurts. GREEDY FREE LOADERS=Metro Police Officer (some).
