LMPD :: Louisville Metro Police Department

I am retired from the LMPD. I was on the County, then the LMPD for a total of 31 years. It is a fact that it costs the city less money for the take home car program than it did when your dad turned in his car at the end of every shift. The cars were replaced about every 6 months in those days. Now they last about 6 or 7 years and are well taken care of by the officers. This fee charged by the city to pay for the privilege of take home cars isn't a way to save money, but rather a way to make money
