Trust me after 19 years I can tell you that the mayor and the command of the police dept. care nothing about morale. All they care about is the bottom line and where their butt kissing will get them.
12 months to go!!

Remember, in most states, you can be legally required to live in the jurisdiction you police. (St. Louis, for example, I know does, and most cops hate it.) In most parts of the state, you can apply, but they aren't going to even look at you if you don't, at least, live in the county. And deputy sheriffs can be legally required to live in the county (up to the sheriff), and MUST live in the state - just a note for anyone looking for their next job.
