problem I see is what we all know would happen here. The boss or bosses in charge of it would give the good jobs to their friends and the rest of the officers would get screwed. That is the way this dept operates. If you are in with them you are taken care of, if not they will do nothing for you but give you a hard time.

What have you got against people that "broker" off duty jobs? I think it is great. First off I run two gigs and don't keep a dime for scheduling or anything else. When i work i work for exactly the same pay as the guys that work with me.
No, I don't like the way some guys charge a company $35.00 and hour and pay the Officers $25.00 and put 10 bucks and hour in their pocket for scheduling. The fact of the matter is that it is a business for them.
If the department handled off duty they would screw it up so badly that nobody would work anywhere. They would place enourmous restrictions on everything and it would ******** royally.
The Ky Supreme Court has already ruled on Off Duty Work in KY. You don't have to tell the Chief you are working anywhere as long as you aren't using his car or uniform etc...
As far as your argument that the department knows where oyu are... you say that like it is a good thing. Right now my two little gigs help out about 15 different Officers throughout the year. It is pretty easy work and they really appreciate our services. Everyone that works for me is a high quality and dependable officer that has proven themselves thus on the street and as people before I would consider using them. You are telling me that I should hand this over to RCW to control and then some ********-bag with no people skills, job skills, the personality of a squid with hemeroids and is the laziest bastrich on the department but he works a ton of off duty should show up at the place I have been at for 10 years, that I cultivated and that helps out my friends and the people that I trust??? Get real! We all know there are a lot of morons on our department that couldn't catch a cold much less a criminal but because they have a badge and uniform they work lots of off duty. WOULD YOU WANT THEM WORKING YOUR OFF DUTY JOB?
