It is very refreshing to see a department head stand up and say "Stop this is WRONG and Poorly thought out."

Corrections appears to have a true leader, his people and safety come first. He is willing to look harder to understand the problem and find a meaningful solution without jeopardizing his employees safety or lively hood.

The fact that he will listen is great.

Denny Norris is nowhere close to being a team play or problem solver. He is a very pathetic coward that will not face the people he represents when he undermines their vote. He must sleep well with his payoff check from King Jer! Denny and King Jer must believe corrections and ems are non essential, what is next out sourcing both groups.

Slight correction for you...

Our "director" didn't say "no" to the furloughs. He got smacked with around 300 grievances last week that the city would be unable to fight. He wanted to furlough everyone for 32 hours...we filed grievance after grievance on it. Some folks actually served the days, but they'll be getting their money back by next week.

Last Monday, he got smacked with the grievances. On Tues, our FOP President was called in, and told if we didn't accept the furlough days, he'd lay off 35 people. Well....our Pres has some balls, and called him on the bluff (we're short staffed, and have been so the almost-decade I've been here). So, later that day, they called him back, and offered to allow probationary employees the right to work off duty if we accepted the furlough days. Again, the answer was "Hell, no", and their response was to say that they'd just make the probies work 32 hours/week until they came off of probation.

We're working on that, and the latest word is that they (the rookies) will only be doing 32 hours total. But, our boss is as bas as yours...he tried to sell us out, but we stood together (maybe you guys should do the same on the car issue?), and won. I'm sure he's trying to find ways to sell us out even more, but we don't have a whole lot to take away...that's a good thing, sometimes.

Oh, and if Denny Norris reads this: "F" off, buddy....you sold out the EMS folks, and almost got your ******** handed to you at that meeting, didn't you?! Maybe next time, you won't talk smack to guys who fight disruptive folks for a living...
