To average Joe citizen: These cars are added to our CONTRACT as an economic benefit. For example, a 1st year rookie may make 32k a year ( approx. figure ). You may not make 40k a year but.... you have a take home car that equals 7-8K a year or less. So, these cars are added into our contract as an added benefit and NOW they want to take our money away. We are not simply whining because we NOW have to pay money in hard times but infact losing alot of money and EXTRA money by using this economic benefit to work our second jobs. So by losing these cars I can lose anywhere from 7-16k a year including off duty if i choose to not work off duty. YES, i can take my personal car to the bank maybe but you cant direct traffic, work on the interstate or work at a construction site like we could before. I dont want to let my personal car run 7-10hrs at a construction site and some punk who sees an old Honda try to steel copper or A/C units. These police cruisers are a huge deterrent. THUGS know what crown vic headlights look like in the distance and even know what the engine sounds like. So to average Joe citizen if you lose anywhere from 7-16 a year or even more you would be frustrated with your JOB. Then... if you say " well if you dont like your job go find another. " I went to school and college inorder to get into law enforcement. I am not in the mindset to choose a totally different career as alot of people on this department do not want to either. ---- just my 2 cents inorder to enlighten the average citizen.

OK, LETS THINK ABOUT WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO DO. SHOW EVERYONE THAT WE ARE DONE TAKING THE MAYORS CRAP....BUT IS GIVING UP THE VEHICLES THE RIGHT THING TO DO AT THIS POINT?? ITS THE HOLIDAYS STRESS OVER THEM OUR INSURANCE IS WHATS REALLY IMPORTAIN TO MY FAMILY. THE CAR FOR NOW IS A CONVEINCE FOR ME AT 100.00 A MONTH. I SAY LETS KEEP THE CARS FOR NOW AND DURING THE NEXT FEW MONTHS GET OUR GAME TOGETHER AND MAKE THE RIGHT MOVE ON OUR TERMS NOT THE MAYORS.IVE TALKED TO MANY OFFICERS AND THEY SAY TURN IN THE CARS.....WITH NO OTHER PLAN ON HOW THEY WILL GET TO WORK OR OFF DUTY FOR SOME. SOME REALLY DONT WANT TO TURN IN THE VEHICLES ON SHORT NOTICE BUT WOULD LATER. FOR ME MY INSURANCE IS A MUCH BIGGER BATTLE THAN THE CAR. ( AND YES I DO THINK THE MAYOR WILL TRY TO INCRESS THE FEE LATER, BUT 100.00 IS MY LIMIT )

I stole this...but somehow it seems right. Your posts have made me proud.

John Butts

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you

But make allowance for their doubting too,

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,

Or being hated, don't give way to hating,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,

If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breath a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;

If all men count with you, but none too much,

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,

And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!
