I agree!! You can keep the car and give him what amounts to your 2% raise and/or furlough days. Or, you can spend the money on your own vehicle, and driving it to and from work. Since that money is gone either way, I would rather not give it to the Mayor.

Does anybody know of any small time dealership that sells police interceptors or diesel engine vehicles? I work all my off duty at construction sites and yes the crown vic runs 6-10 hours per shift. I shall not let my personal car run all hours since it is BAD for naturally aspirated gasoline engines to run for long hours at a time. police interceptors have oil coolers, etc. that help them run longer without much wear and tear. as for diesel engines they run cold and yes it is not great for them but it is not as bad. I have been working ALOT of off duty the past year to pay for.. (1) my masters, (2) a bad divorce (3) funeral expenses for my deceased mother (4) 140k mortgage on my house by myself which is also for sale now and other bills.I was planning on working alot of off duty for at least 15 more months inorder pay off bills then stop it cold turkey so I wont have to rely on it. Obviously this car situation hit hard and fast. I have a tough choice like many others. For the officers who live close to their div. or do NOT work off duty... easy... park em... I'm looking on buying a 2nd beater strickly for offduty and then let jerry keep my 2001 crown vic with 136,000 miles on it. Many officers are paying for their children's college tuition or private high school tuition which is a must and they cannot sacrifice their childs education due to this setback I have been employed by metro gov't since early '05. It is sad to see what this dept.has come to. I have made my future plans before the original 60 bucks a month came into being. I've applied federally along with other agencies and hope to be heading their direction. I wish you all the best
