I saw the Mayor's bug eyed spokesperson on tv saying that the "entire" budget was on the internet, and that the Unions just keep asking for the same info over and over. How stupid! The sad part is that some will believe what she said, just like when they threw that horse#### out about Police and FireFighters making $91,000 and $93,000. She asked "what would we have to gain by making this up?" The answer would be for the Mayor and his Staff to keep their jobs, and perhaps avoid a stint in prison. This is not just about the Unions, or Metro employees in general. This is about the taxpayers of Louisville, and the fact that they deserve the truth! If the budget is shot to hell (If being the key word), then use some of the rainy day fund to hold us over, and start working on the new budget for 07-01-2009 now. They would have six months to try and fix the problems, and the citizens of Louisville would have that time to prepare for more cuts, if needed.

I just cant believe how this administration/Mayor, has screwed up this city and now, has the nerve to ask its employee's to take unpaid furlough days. I have lost all respect for this mayor and want him out off office as soon as possible. GOODBYE ...........................................................................

A tax payer/Officer.

Let's see today they announce that the City owes the firemen about 18 million from their lawsuit. Lets figure in a conservative 2 million for legal fee's and that brings us to 20 million. I'm trying to remember where I've heard that 20 million figure referred to before............................ .. Face it people there's the budget shortfall. Hey media how about asking the Mayor that simple question? Does anyone know how much it would have cost to settle the lawsuit years ago and done the right thing. Once again people in the former county areas are going to have to bail out the city. Perhaps the funds for the lawsuit should come from the districts in the former city areas. Just a thought I'll hold my breath.

I was recently an applicant for lmpd and was at the memorial auditorium on nov. 18 for testing when the whole room was told "Please don't think you are wasting your time testing today, your applications are good for up to 2 years." And we are all like what the hell is he talking about. Got back home and looked on this web site and saw where he put out the e-mail that morning, @ 0705, freeze on hiring. So f all that. I right now work for state gov. in frankfort, come to find out today that steve is going to furlough my a$$ 3 days of course without pay soon. Not the low level NON-MERIT state employees, who really don't have any kind of greveience power or employment security because they are appointed by the governor, and of course when or before he is gone they are as well, no lets not lay off non-essential employees, lets go after merit employees who have rights. Gotta ******** it up and give up your merit rights, and always remember when election day rolls around you can vote my a$$ back out to the curb.

To the state workers who are replying on here, the governor is proposing a cigarette tax hike and furlough days. Okay they have NEVER agreed to raise anything on cigarettes, but they are real quick to cut our raises back to as low as 1%, I think they might possibly turn down the cigarette tax hike and go full boar with the furlough days, and of course, in a closed door session, vote themselves a 25% raise. UNBRIDLED SPIRIT!

Park the cars guys! Let's hit him in the wallet. This article is the best crystalization of Jerry's history I've ever seen in print. I'm a firefighter and I'm here to tell you we're with 100% of the way. He smacked us hard with the state incentive pay cut (8 - 9% annually for me) and now he's cutting our positions and closing a firehouse that's been open every single day for 137 years. Jer would like nothing more than to divide us. We need to back each other up now more than ever.
