RE: FOP Members Vote No To City's Proposals
Did they call 911 or did they call the "non-emergency" number? The recording is on the non-emergency number. If this is true someone needs to call ALL of the media folks immediately. (Don't just call one, and let them all know you have called everyone, so they don't try to ignore it.)
RE: FOP Members Vote No To City's Proposals
I do not know about 911. I would hope that it is a live person. However, the nonemergency numbers are automated. I have to say, as an officer, it is absolutely frustrating to hear a recording when you call in to dispatch. I merely had to call because I was having trouble locating an address on a run I was going to, and it was a non-emergency. I had to go through the whole "choose 1 for...choose 7 for....blah, blah, blah..." while I am trying to look for this house. Then, after getting transferred, I finally got my channel dispatcher. It was an unbearable length of time. I cannot imagine a citizen calling in for help, already frustrated and having to go through all of that!! Good grief, what a horrible decision to go automated. When you need to talk to a living breathing human being most, when you are in crisis, is when you get a machine. Very poor decision. ~Shannon Holt
