Enough is Enough!

Why is it that you think the contract contains the prevention of surveillance equipment? Its the same mentality that caused truckers to be against it when it began in our industry. Nobody like to be spied on. But lets be honest, both industies need it. Neither industry can be trusted to monitor themselves, thats why manufacturers started governing trucks to set limits, and it was a side benefit for dispatch to know what every truck was doing at any given time. The money may not be available right now to outfit police cars, but it has been there in the past, and been wasted. The cost of that service is getting cheaper all the time just from the sheer advances in technology.

I had this conversation when I called in a complaint and was passed around the phone tag game, so I made sure I got passedup the chain, and col turner was as high as I got. I dont know the internal politics and frankly, im not interested. Yes, i do believe that he spent an hour and a half blowing smoke up my ********, and he did more covering for officers than he did throwing them under the bus, but he did do both. I have heard the rumors about Turner, that he is a wife beater. I dont know if its true, and frankly dont care as far as this goes, because I could tell from the conversation that the man was playing politician and telling me what he thought I wanted to hear.

Do I think that either profession is better than the other, not at all. I think that cops have more leeway to abuse their position, and take advantage of it. Would my opinion change if I was a cop, I would hope not as I have always considered myself fair, and if someone wants to discuss the problems with the trucking industry, then by all means, lets go. If I ever catch a trucker tossing a ******** bottle out on the road, you can bet im reporting him not only to his company, but to law enforcement as well for obscene littering. To me, that is the number one problem with truckers, disrespecting other parts of the country just because you dont live there. I can honestly say that I have NEVER littered, or thrown anything other than a banana peel out the window, let alone a bottle of urine.
