Enough is Enough!

Who is whining now? Sounds like sour grapes to me. Who has the option to work for cash? All that income is reported. I pay taxes on my off duty jobs. Anything else would be illegal, but I guess for us above the law cops that would be par for the course. But thankfully we are not as morally corrupt as you! As for the greatly discounted apartments, I tell you what, I will pay half your rent to go live in some of those **** holes and deal with the problems they have to deal with. I promise you it's not worth it. Yes, the car is a nice benefit, and when we were asked to pay a supplemental gas fee a few months ago we did. We are not asking for anything crazy, the average city employees is being asked to sacrifice 3 days of pay, at $15.00 an hour that is $360.00. Why should I have to give more? I already maintain my own vehicle, my off duty jobs don't require a police car. So why shouldn't't I park it?

After years of not getting raises, or getting one that doesn't keep up with the cost of living, taking cuts in health benefits, and having Jerry the King Mayor prove to us that our contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on. We have decided enough is enough. So yes, we will be parking our cars, yes, we will continue to do our jobs in a professional manner. Unfortunately the city will suffer. The father of policing, Sir Robert Peel stated the only true measure of policing is the absence of crime. When there are only 100 officers working the streets in the entire city at any given time, you will see just how absent that crime has been! Good luck Louisville. Glad I am packing...

You can bet your ******** they didn't give us those cars out of the kindness of their hearts! There are plenty of studies out there that compare the stats dollar wise and crime wise. Google it! They are just trying to see how much we are willing to give. Well my wallet is empty, and my spirit is broken. I am taking that money and investing in my own future.

As for the news not covering a certain side of the story, WELCOME TO OUR WORLD! HATER!

By the way, how did we deem ourselves above the law? How about you don't tell me how to Police and I won't tell you how to mop floors...Or do whatever it is you do for the Mayors office.

We pay for insurance on police vehicles it costs me an extra $267 a year. City insurance coverage does not cover you fully for off duty driving.

This year alone while off duty I stopped a DUI that was .39 on I 64 He was so intoxicated I had to take him to the Hospital I was down there for 4 hours before they would release him to go to the jail total unpaid time was 5 hrs. I was not paid because I was off duty I also missed out on court pay because I was on my way to court when I made the stop..... On 8 other occasions this year on my way home I have stopped suspicious subjects that I have found cruising around my neighborhood after 1 am. After talking to those subjects I discovered none even lived in the area and none could give me a valid name of anyone in my neighborhood. I keep neighborhood directory's in my take home car just so I can check. After following up I discovered most had previous TBUT charges (IE car break ins). No Items were taken from my neighborhood those nights. I also have stopped on my own time for countless accidents and stranded motorists this year.

As for the alarm systems I work in the East End and alarm systems do not stop thefts. I've taken many Burglary reports in homes with alarm systems. I even have taken some that involved over $10,000 dollars worth of items being taken. Some had an external siren sounding when I arrived and the neighbors were home. The alarms only remind professional thief's they have 5 mins to do their evil deeds before the monitoring company calls the police.

As for Prospect and Anchorage they have more officers per number of citizens than us and that is why they have less crime.

Old Louisville Police and the Old County Police used a take home car program as a force multiplier to increase police presence instead of hiring more officers. Studys have proven it is cost effective.
