Mayor orders spending restrictions, including hiring freeze, travel cuts

WOW you're stupid.....If you think it's that simple I feel sorry for you....I am sorry you had to ride the short bus to school....Do you realize how many officers understaffed LMPD is. Do you realize how much FREE police service the citizens get by off duty officer on their own time. In regards to Officers working off duty jobs. Nearly EVERY POLICE agancy in the country allows officers working off duty jobs., WHY? because private business pays for the protections they would otherwise never receive from a police dept, much less one 150 officers short of their authorized strength. Do you realize how many calls, arrest, fights, and so on are prevented or occur each year by off duty officers. On duty Officers can't keep up with the calls for service now, they really could not keep up if they made the thousand upon thousands upon thousands of calls that off duty officers either work or are actually off duty on their own time and stop because there are afforded the benefit of a car and do it FOR FREE! I could go on and on and on and on, but you're obviously very stupid and uninformed and would never understand. The citizens have no idea how this city and crime would change with out take home cars!

My marked police car parked in the Kroger parking lot at Southland Terrace while I'm doing some shopping may be the only thing keeping that thug who lives in Greystone Apartments from running around the side of a building, hitting your grandmother in the head with a hammer and stealing her purse. There is no way you can measure how much crime is deterred simply by the presence of a marked off duty police unit on the lot of a business. How much is that worth to you?
