Concerns Raised About New Metro Corrections Head

Why cant Mayor King Jerry give any department a leader that has no problems in thier background. If he was to apply to be an officer in the selection process, he may not even be hired at an entry level but King Jerry will allow him to lead the department.

Secondly, WHY cant he select someone from the ranks of the department. Someone who started at the entry level recruit and has worked at the jail and knows how it runs and has the insight to make it better from actual time at this jail.

Jerry, current Metro Employees have the skills to lead.

Ok, here's my opinion. Don't hire the guy, plain and simple. We have been given a red flag. Resend his job offer and continue the search for someone else. This guy was Arizona's problem and if not stopped he will become ours. We as officers want a chief not a director. We want someone who wears a uniform and duty belt to work, not a suit. Also, continue the search from outside of the department we need to stop the click, enough is enough. For those who say we want bobaloo. No we don't, bobaloo has his favorites and the rest don't matter. he is no different than the previous two. We need a leader that has a mind of his own and will see things for what they are. This department has become an embarrassment to us all. Lets fix this problem and move forward. This department has great potential.

Here are the facts, plain and simple: Jerry Abramson is good at one thing only, getting his own way. He doesn't care about the community, he doesn't care about the employees of metro government and he doesn't care about you. Since merger he has continued to sneer at anyone withing the ranks of almost every public service agency as being unworthy of leading their agency time and time again. After an expensive(for the community) and lucrative (for his cronies) search they magically find someone outside our community to lead whichever agency.

Isn't it funny how nobody in Louisville is smart enough to do the job? Isn't it funny how the search committee who obviously are able to find expense hotels and bars(at our expense) can't seem to find out simple things like a "No confidence vote?" What does their search consist of? Do they just interview based on what the applicant provides in the form of a resume and references? Haven't they ever heard of doing a background check for God's sake? It obviously wasn't that hard to find since WLKY didn't seem to have any problems.

I haven't got anything against this guy, but anyone Abramson reccomends I get a funny feeling about. Let me reiterate, "ISN"T THERE ANYONE IN LOUISVILLE WORTH A DAMN?"

Has anyone heard that this week they will announce that metro police officers will no longer be able to drive their take home cars except to and from work? Supposedly this is based off the city being in debt.....wonder why the city is in debt but we keep giving money away to businesses downtown!

Many of you have probably read your email from the mayor today. It basically says, more budget cuts are coming. He does ask for our input on where we can save money. Let's get factual numbers on what is being spent for the downtown projects (arena, Cordish Street Live, etc.). Once we have those numbers, let's suggest those projects be stopped immediately. I think that might save us a bit of money. If we bombard the mayors office with emails, maybe, just maybe they'll realize that we know where the money is really going. Let's also suggest we go back and get the rest of the money we should have gotten for Polo Fields. That would fix a few million dollars worth of budget shortfall.

Oh, and good luck to the 3rd division tonight. Within 2 days of Councilman Bob Henderson being re-elected (by just 37% of his constituents), a major apartment project on the Greenbelt was announced. 19 apartment buildings are being planned at Greenbelt and Ashby. I wonder where they will get residents to place in those apartments. There is a community meeting planned at Johnsontown Elementary this evening. I would bet that the 3rd division has to make a few runs there tonight to save Mr. Henderson from his angry constituents. By the way, the first article in the Courier Journal after Bob Henderson won re-election began, "Bob Henderson, a staunch supporter of Mayor Jerry Abramson..."

As always, respectfully yours,

Deputy Darrell

Mark Bolton destroyed Community Corrections in Arizona. He got rid of good people, and harrassed good people to the point of quiting. I feel sorry for any department that has him as an administrator. He willhold tons of planning meetings, and develope tons of useless workgroups. It is his way or the highway. Get him out now...
