Get out there and DO it. Don't wait for the FOP to organize it, get a few officers who are off-duty, some cardboard and markers, and make some signs. With 1200+ officers, you should be easily able to have signs at every single event involving the mayor, as well as a 24/7 presence at Metro Hall. LFD did it, with far fewer people, after all.

An interesting article was in this month's Police Beat Magazine. It talked about holding on to what you have. It was written by a police labor group leader. He stated that if you are fighting the battle in the court room you have already lost. It MUST be fought in the full view of the public. Why do you think Jerry takes his arguements to the media when he wants something done. He doesn't file lawsuits!

It is time for us as an FOP to take these fights to the public. This article discussed placing phone numbers and addresses of public officials on billboards and following and protesting them at every turn. We must be in their face to get their attention. The ones that are not with us will quickly learn that standing with Jerry is costly. If you go up to a council rep at their kids ballgame and let them you know you are NOT happy with the treatment they might be a little mad but don't you think they will want to make sure it doesn't embarrass them again. The city has no problem changing your off days (to prevent paying overtime!) to work some detail which causes you to miss your childs game so there is no shame is making a politician miss theirs.

The council members have other jobs and I am sure that many of their employers would not like any undue attention, which may cause them to lose business. The point here is that we have nothing to lose, everytime we hold back Jerry tries to screw with us again. This needs to end and it needs to end now!

We continue to hear that the city has no money but it is strange that we HIRE "summer" interns to sit and do nothing. I suppose the media would like to know which politicians son's roomate got that job.
