Off-Duty Officer Credited With Saving Man's Life

July 29th, 2008 @ 9:06PM (16 years ago)

It's good to see the gratitude from the man Donnie saved, even though we don't expect that kind of thanks and appreciation when we do what we do. It seems to be going around this week, and I'm glad. The families of the 2 girls killed in the hit and run released this: "Thank you to the community for your outpouring of love and support. We especially want to thank the Louisville Police Department, emergency response workers, medical examiners, and the staffs at University and Kosair Children's hospitals for their love and care."

So, score 1 more for the good guys.

Doesn't he know that the victim could have died? He should have used his Taser instead. Or maybe his billy club. Or maybe some of the hand to hand combat he's trained in.

great job Donnie

Way to go Donnie! This is just another example of the good things that our Officers do every single day. Don't expect this to be a news article in the CJ though, because it is good news and of course that doesn't sell in the print media.

It's a good thing you are paying to use your car off duty...or you may not have even been there. Just think it so ironic and another demonstration of our dedication to service in the face a daily hardships placed on us by the city. Way to go to another true professional.

HMMMMMM.... Metro cop does something good; saves someones life... This wont be in the news long. As a matter of fact, I didnt see it in the Comunist, uh, Courier Journal at all. Why is it front page news if a galant, hard working cop kills a scumbag in the commission of a felony, but it barely is worth a mention if the same cop saves a life??

For what it is worth, this cop deserves our congraulations.

Good job Donny and way to represent. See, despite getting crapped on all the time by the command staff and worthless metro government, we do our jobs because its what we dedicate our lives to...Not BS projects or trying to pad our own pockets by getting reelected. Some people are in city government to seve others...Not themselves. Again, good job Donny. Oh yea, I need a letter on my desk Monday explaining why your tattoo was exposed as you saved that man's life!
