Officers make 90 arrests after Derby, recover 14 guns

I would have thought there would have been more arrests than that. I came through about midnight on sat night and 18 cars passed me running code, heading west. Looked like you guys were busy as hell! Keep up the good work

It was a success for Uncle jerry because you all managed to put $1800.00 in the general fund by making 90 arrests. You also added another $2900.00 in noise ordinance violations. Good Job. Next year instead of playing his game... because he knows that we will always still do our job try doing nothing. Pass out maps to 44 Eastover Court and let themhandg out at the mayor's crib for awhile.

In years past when we shut down Broadway, we heard a bunch of complaining from all the business owners and citizens and was slammed by the communist journal and the TV news. This year, we successfully kept the traffic moving for the most part and did our job without any serious violent crimes occurring, other than the Screaming Eagles fight. Where is the lengthy news stories or articles highlighting our success and all the compliments we received this year? Both Saturday and sunday, the slanted- @#$ communist journal threw a little article in the paper, both having inaccurate stats. If we had problems or if coleman had made a stink, we would have made front page news highlighting angry people and calls for action! The media in this city sucks! All you idiots in the media or that work for the media, you ********. I'm sick of your one-way reporting and short stories with wrong data written by inexperienced and egotistical journalists who try to make a name for themselves. Get a real job where you actually contribute to society and make a difference. Reporting BS that is one-sided and inaccurate is not helping anyone. Hell, half the stuff you report about crime scenes or events that we personal respond to, are wrong. Can't you stupid people get it right? I'm sorry you were too stupid to get a real college degree that took effort. You know, like an engineering or a business degree. I'm sorry you have students loans for communications and journalism and english degrees. Someone should have slapped you in the head long before you spent all your money. Face it, your an idiot with a worthless degree. Does that give you a ticket to write false bulls9it in hopes of impressing an editor who was too busy smoking pot and avoiding the military because it was too hard? No! Go back to school and get a peice of paper that actually means something. Heck, go back to law school and "earn" (a fancy word which means receiving something through effort) a JD, at least you would move from the bottom of the worthless people list to the next group of greedy idiots on the list. Move out of Louisville and find a real job overseas reporting on the war. Never mind, too hard again. Heck report on global warming. At leat then all the idiot democrats would read your slanted one-sided stories and get something from it. That goes for our own impersonal PR girl who talks out of the side of her hear most of the time. You know who you are. THank the Lord for Freedom of Speech, huh? I'm done!

Why is it that it is o'k and tolerated by the black community to act like this? Do you honestly want your kids around all of that? Why is it that the police come under fire by community activists for trying to break up the lawlessness? An even bigger question is why do the news channels and paper even give Coleman and people like him the time of day, much less space on the news? It never ceases to amaze me that this behavior is tolerated and condoned by a supposed minister. I recall stopping Louis years ago and when I asked him if he had been drinking he replied, "I'm a god damned minister, I don't drink" No, but you sure take the lord;s name in vain rather quickly.

Trust me, the officers on Broadway could have made 10 times the arrests. You want to know something. I just don't give a damn. If the administration is not going to back us and not going to stop us then I will police only to keep myself, my partners and the innocent people safe. I won't give them anything extra. Sounds bad doesn't it? Imagine a department where everyone was happy and wanting to give 100%... keep imagining it, because as long as we are over 100 officers short and treated like dirt by the mayor and his staff then it will all be just a dream.

Don't let anyone fool you (citizens), cruising is back! As one poster noted we could have made at least ten times the arrests we made, easily. And if fourteen handguns were confiscated, imagine how many more were driving right by us with each and every car that rolled past, NOT cruising though. This is not only a serious safety issue for us as police officers, but is also a travesty for the tax payers of Louisville. Just think about the vast area known as Louisville Metro, and then think about the fact that so many of us were designated for a minute portion of that city. For what? To try to babysit a bunch of non-taxpaying animals. Face it, while it's not politically correct to say that, it is in Fact the way they acted this past weekend, and in past Derby's. I'm referring to blacks and whites, for those that believe I am being prejudiced. This is so unfair to the actual tax payers of our community who had to suffer many injustices, not the least of which were outrageous response times (due to less than minimal numbers in the districts). I guarantee you that Thefts from auto's and burglaries went through the roof in the suburbs while we were chasing down animals downtown. Let the National Guard come in for cruising (that doesn't actually exist) and let us do our jobs protecting and serving the tax payers of Louisville Metro.

I wish someone could put together a petition to be circulated to the suburban, and urban tax paying citizens outlining these facts and have it signed by every tax payer that is willing to sign it, and forward it to the mayor and the council members. Obviously we as Police Officers could not be the originator of this, but that doesn't prevent family and friends of police, and citizens who will be just as fed up when they learn the numbers.

Guess what because of a law that State Representative Tom Riner introduced about 10 years ago the guns that were confiscated will be turned over to the state and resold back to gun dealers. The pittance that they get for them will go into a state fund to purchase body armor for police. WTF???? Isn't the idea to get guns off the street permanently? What was our Pastor/Representative thinking when he got this passed? I was pretty damn happy that all the guns I used to confiscate were destroyed by order of the court and they were never used in another crime ever again.

We have 14 guns that will go through the revolving doors of our system thanks to Tom Riner and his assinine view on public safety.

I think next year we should let KSP handle the broadway cruising. Just make sure you send out a page to University because there would be alot of stitches handed out. Can anyone else see the News.

I loved the lady on the news complaining about all of the police and saying "We can't afford to go to 4th Street Live so this is OUR thing." Of course as she says this there are cars driving by on 26" rims that cost more than some houses in the city of louisville.

If the west end citizens don't want such a visible Police presence then send them to my part of Louisville. The 40245 zip code welcomes a few hundred Police Officers riding around our neighborhoods. I would LOVE to see a Police Officer on EVERY corner in my neighborhood.

Hey Mayor where is the east end Derby celebration?? We can't afford to go to the derby so we want something for FREE too!! And I bet you won't have to confiscate so many guns or make so many arrests and Officers will line up to work the east end detail. After all we PAY TAXES and VOTE here in the east end! I'll bet the people of south Louisville feel the same!

Noise ordinance violations for loud rap music in the west end? HAH! That's like ticketing east end soccer moms for driving a minivan. Don't get too distracted by the noise that you miss the gun and the crack, even if Uncle Bob would prefer you do so.
