Mayor's office denies claim that city is building bomb shelter

That's the point, they can't "take it away." That's why we had a county police, the county judge, years ago, wanted a police force separate from the sheriff.

And I'll note from another post, the pay sucks - and remember, only a very small minority of the deputies have take home cars. Remember the old saying, the grass is always greener? Aubrey probably won't try for another term, and then who will you have? Talk to the deputies that worry about getting disciplined BECAUSE they backed up LMPD and got into something ....

The main thing that keeps me away from the Sherriff's Office right now is that fact that the pay isn't as good. If that ever changes, I might be forced to consider a change in uniform. On the other hand, I could see myself being one of the retirees that goes over to the Sherriff's Office after I free myself from the clutches of Jerry.
